The pair grew up with the sounds of Michael Jackson, Usher, Missy Elliot and Chris Brown. The duo grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan. They honed their dancing skills in elementary school, they started as LesTwins copycats, later establishing a popular social media page that issued viral dance challenges. "Rolex" happened to be one of these hits, eventually racking up over 80 million streams on YouTube and storming the Billboard Hot 100. Wearing their trademark bear facemasks, they issued their first single, "In Reverse," in 2016. They danced in Usher's video for "No Limit" and at the 2016 BET Awards, later signing with Columbia Records. "Lit Right Now" arrived in early 2017, but was soon eclipsed by the infectious anthem "Rolex," which echoed similar trap-influenced pop hits like Migos' "Bad and Boujee," Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles," and D.R.A.M.'s "Broccoli". Ayo & Teo kicked off with a number of pics and vids reposted by Chris Brown, the two are now rubbing elbows and sharing stages with the very people that influenced them the most. Most recently being invited and flown out to perform by Usher himself, the boys shared the 2016 BET Awards stage with the R&B phenom. The duo quickly developed their own unique brand of dancing and began to upload YouTube videos from their basement and living room. With zero promotion, and strictly through the power of social media, they began to gain mass appeal by creating and having their “dance challenges” reposted to some of Instagram’s most popular dance pages. Recognizing this as their main outlet, the younger of the brothers (Teo) created what has become an instant phenomenon and their moniker – “The Reverse“. Simply reversing the steps to some of world’s best dance crazes, their Reverse of the “Nae Nae” went viral overnight, on every posted outlet, and received over 150 million views.
Ayo is aged 20 and Teo is currently 17.
Their dancing style highly resembles that of Les Twins, a popular dancing duo from France.

What if God was like us?
Had a squad just like us?
Always poppin' tags just like us?
Gucci bags just like us?
Always keep them stacks just like us?
Almost threw up in my tour bus
What if God was like us?
Had a squad just like us?
Always poppin' tags just like us?
Gucci bags just like us?
I want to know, I want to know
I want to know, I want to know
Left wrist just like ooh, right hand just like ooh (Chi, chi, boo, boo)
Neck on bae like ooh, my chick bad like ooh (Ooh, ooh, ooh)
What if God was just like us?
What if God moved like us?
What if God cried like us?
Struggle went on bus to bus
Everybody on the same drug
Everybody want the same look
Keep it real with my day ones
Don't like nothing of that fake love
Threw up on the tour bus
Man, I swear I grew up these past four months
Shorty want the crew, it's more than four of us
Made a hit and blew, God opened doors for us (hello)
What if God was like us?
Had a squad just like us?
Always poppin' tags just like us?
Almost threw up in my tour bus
What if God was like us?
Had a squad just like us?
Always poppin' tags just like us?
Gucci bags just like us?
I want to know, I want to know
I want to know, I want to know
Left wrist just like ooh, right hand just like ooh (Chi, chi, boo, boo)
Neck on bae like ooh, my chick bad like ooh (Ooh, ooh ooh)
In God we trust (I didn't trust nobody)
No hate, all love (No hate it's all love)
Bezel shine like the sun (Bezel shine like the sun shine)
That comes from above (Give it up for God one time)
Keep my head up on all one of y'all (Gotta keep my head up)
Pop like a pimple, keep on trying us (Pop like a pimple)
Girls be tripping just to get to us
Scottie Pippen, that's my shooter yah
What if God was like us?
Had a squad just like us?
Always poppin' tags just like us?
Almost threw up in my tour bus
What if God was like us?
Had a squad just like us?
Always poppin' tags just like us?

The song "Like Us" by Ayo & Teo raises the intriguing question of what if God was just like us? The lyrics ponder on what it would be like if God had a squad just like us and was always poppin' tags and carrying Gucci bags just like us. The song also talks about struggles that people go through in life and whether God experiences them in the same way. The lyrics suggest that everyone is on the same level, that everyone is on the same drug and that everybody wants the same look. The artists also clarify that they keep it real with their day ones and don't like fake love.
The chorus repeats the questions, "What if God was like us? Had a squad just like us? Always poppin' tags just like us? Gucci bags just like us?" This suggests that they are not saying that God is like humans, but rather exploring the idea of what it would be like if God behaved like us. The artists talk about their own struggles during the tour and how they have grown up in the past few months.
Overall, "Like Us" reflects on the contemporary culture obsessed with brand names and luxury items and questions how it would be if God was a part of that culture. The song raises a thought-provoking question for the listeners by exploring different possibilities of what God would be like if he were human.
