Voyage
Ayumi Hamasaki (浜崎あゆみ) Lyrics

Overall Meaning

In Ayumi Hamasaki's song "Voyage," the lyrics describe the journey of two people traveling together to find happiness. They face various seasons and hardships on their journey, but whenever they look back, they see each other's smiling faces. The beautiful and fleeting days that had passed by and had yet to come become vivified in their memories. They are both travelers with wounds that may never be mended, but they have each other, and their smiles fit perfectly together.

The lyrics describe the two travelers as being together through thick and thin. During moments of uncertainty, they always had each other's warm hands as they wander through the world. They contemplate what they will think about when they finally reach their destination. They believe that everyone is searching for love and that they are all travelers in the world. They want to travel together to the point of tedium--to pass the time and overcome the obstacles that come their way.

To become happy, we go on this journey
Look, smiles suit us very well

Days of transience and beauty revive without fading
The dazzling season we longed for by the sea and the season of snowfall

Whenever we turn back, you were there
We are travelers who carry wounds that no one can heal

Look, smiles suit us very well
How many times did we get lost on the road

Every time, you reached out with warm hands
At the end of this long journey, what do we think?

We are travelers who all seek love and wander
Let's go together until we get tired of it
