They reach for my privates
They try to exert power over me by touching me inappropriately.

Like my dress was coming up
They act like I am asking for sexual attention, when in reality it is unwelcome.

Like I wanted it
They falsely assume I am sexually available to them.

Like I asked for it
They blame me for their actions and assume I provoked them.

They stare in my presence
They treat me like a sexual object, fixated on my physical appearance.

As if I only came with physical presents
They disregard my intelligence, opinions, and emotions, assuming I am only valuable for my looks.

My beauty is leverage
Although my beauty is often used against me, I also use it to my advantage when negotiating.

Negotiating with the ugly
I am able to use my power to negotiate with those who are not as attractive, but have power in other ways.

They spew at me
They verbally attack me with hateful and hurtful words.

Can't a caged bird still sing
Although I may be oppressed, I still have a voice and refuse to be silenced.

My roar rings
My voice is powerful and can be heard from far away.

Like the vocal cords of Marian Anderson
My voice is as powerful and inspiring as the famous opera singer's.

In front of a Lincoln mantle
I am unapologetically standing up for my rights, just as Marian Anderson famously sang in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

Hopping over Daffy's
I am boldly stepping over obstacles in my path, just as the Looney Tunes character Daffy Duck would.

Because in god we duck from the old man's America
In the face of oppression and inequality, we seek refuge in our faith and spiritual beliefs.

He treat everyday like rabbit season
The oppressive forces treat every day like a hunt, with the goal of taking down those they see as their prey.

And I'm the bad bunny that bugs him
I am the one who is causing discomfort and annoyance to the oppressors, just like a pesky rabbit who won't go away.

Using masked disguises to invade and make fun of him
I am using my intelligence to outsmart and ridicule those who seek to oppress me.

Until I slip into an anamorphic loop
Eventually, I must transform in order to continue fighting back.

And become him
By becoming my oppressor, I am able to understand his motivations and weaknesses, and use them to my advantage.

The beast I unleash
The power and strength within me that I am able to unleash when needed.

It is fueled by a sense of moral justice and doing what is right.

This beast represents the fight for women's right to vote.

My voice is just as strong and forceful as civil rights activist Betty Friedan's.

My emotions are just as raw and powerful as musician Tina Turner's.

It laughs like my Joy
I find joy in the things that make me happy, just like comedian Joy Behar does.

It cusses like my Rosie
I have a fiery spirit and am not afraid to speak my mind, like outspoken TV host Rosie O'Donnell.

It won't forget like my Ruthie
I am determined to never forget those who came before me and fought for my rights, like women's rights activist Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

It fights like my sistas
My fight for equality is shared by my fellow women who experience similar forms of oppression.

It talks back like my niece
I refuse to be silenced or talked down to, just like my own younger family members.

It praises like all 17 of my aunties in a prayer circle lifting hands at the same time
I am fueled by the love and support of the women in my life who lift me up and empower me.

I am constantly thankful and grateful for the blessings in my life, even when things are tough.
