Ocean
Bรฉta Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's been awhile since you touched the ocean
It's been awhile since you rowed the sea
We've washed away, along way to nothin'
And back again, come back for something

Where sunsets children have wept
And mouths have fallen with dust
Their hands they scrape to find their home

And those tender kisses, all burned away
Those tender kisses, all gone away
And I'm bringin' back
The Ocean

A million cells, they all molt to nothin'
Curled up inside that silver lining
We're scattered รข??round like precious wishes
Watch where we land, we all land with kisses

Our dreams are covered in red
Where Scarlet's children have wept
Like a moments breath upon the lips

And those tender kisses, all burned away
Those tender kisses
And I'm bringin' back
The Ocean [Repeat x4]

The Ocean

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bรฉta's song Ocean is about finding oneself and coming back to a place of comfort and familiarity. The opening lines stating that it's been a while since the person has touched the ocean or sailed reminds the listener that sometimes we need to return to the basic things that bring us peace and calmness. The lines about being washed away and coming back for something implies that the person has experienced some sort of upheaval or life altering situation that forces them to come back to where it all began, the ocean, to find their bearings again. The verses continue to paint a scene of a desolate, almost apocalyptic world, where things that were once beautiful, like sunsets and tender kisses, have all disappeared. The lines about "red" dreams and "Scarlet's children" weeping creates a sense of mourning for a time that has passed.

However, amidst all the sadness, there is hope. The chorus, which repeats the phrase "I'm bringing back the ocean" four times, conveys a strong sense of determination to return to a place of comfort and belonging. The ocean is symbolic of a place where one feels at home and at peace. The second verse continues the theme of finding oneself, as the lyrics speak of precious wishes and scattered desires. The phrase "watch where we land, we all land with kisses" is a reminder to the listener that the journey is just as important as the destination. The final lines of the song, "The Ocean", implies that the person has found what they were looking for and are now at peace.

This is AMAZing! I am studying Marine Sciences at university and I watch this for 5 minuets before I start work and then leave it on in the background. You have no idea how much it is helping with with both motivation and concentration when I am having some serious ADHD moments so thank you from the bottom of my heart :)

travelicious !

I just found this and am using it to study for a test next week. Not only do I also have ADD, but also test anxiety, so it's really hard to focus. I'm hoping to use it next week just prior to the test in order to put me in the proper frame of mind so I can ace it.

This works best for me when I spend 5-10 minutes getting โ€œinto study modeโ€, such as making my bed, organizing my desk. And then starting my work with this in the background.
