B.B. King/Bonnie Raitt/Buddy Guy/Dr. John/Eric Clapton/Jimmie Vaughan/Neville/Robert Cray Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Well now, it's three o'clock in the morning
And I can't even close my eyes.
Three o'clock in the morning
And I can't even close my eyes.
Can't find my baby
And I can't be satisfied.

I've looked all around me
And my baby, she can't be found.
I've looked all around me, people,
And my baby, she can't be found.
You know if I don't find my baby,
People, I'm going down to the golden ground.

Goodbye everybody,
I believe this is the end.
Oh, goodbye everybody,
I believe this is the end.
I want you to tell my baby,

Tell her please, please forgive me,
Forgive me for my sins.

Overall Meaning

The song "Blues in 2-3" by B.B. King/Bonnie Raitt/Buddy Guy/Dr. John/Eric Clapton/Jimmie Vaughan/ Neville/Robert Cray is a classic blues number that talks about lost love and heartbreak. The lyrics convey a sense of desperation as the singer can't find his lover even after searching everywhere, and he can't keep his eyes shut because of the anguish he feels.

The opening stanza "Well now, it's three o'clock in the morning And I can't even close my eyes" conveys the singer's bad state of mind. When you are in love and lost, every moment seems to last forever, and you can't find the comfort to sleep. The singer's restlessness is palpable in the line "And I can't be satisfied." He can't find peace until he finds his missing lover.

In the chorus, the singer says that he has "looked all around me," but he can't seem to find his baby. He threatens to go down to the "golden ground" if he doesn't find his love soon, implying that he won't be able to survive without her. The final verse is bittersweet as the singer says goodbye to everyone and asks them to tell his baby to forgive him for any mistakes he made.

Overall, "Blues in 2-3" is a poignant blues number that captures the pain of losing someone you love dearly. The lyrics are simple but powerful, and the singers' emotive performances only add to the song's impact.

Except I believe Stevie Ray Vaughn wasn't at that live concert.
These were most of the guys that played with Stevie on his final tour, the night before his helicopter crashed into that mountain, killing him.
All the video footage of Stevie Ray?
Was taken from his appearance on Austin City Limits.
This was a tribute video, so it's obvious that Stevie Ray wasn't actually on that stage playing with all those blues legends.
If you notice?
He's never on the stage at the same time as everyone else, interacting with them.
He had tragically already died by this point.

You know you are truly great when Eric Clapton is playing rhythm guitar behind you.

My opinion is there is one guy there that Stevie learned most everything from...... Buddy Guy

@nitromartini1422

@@stevenseul361: You must be kidding. Buddy Guy is the most over rated loser in the music business. He STINKS.

That's when you know you have made it! Lol

Stevie was FLAWLESS!!! He was the baddest cat to ever pick up a guitar. I've never had a musician that brought me to tears when I heard their music. Stevie had a gift that was unmatched. I truly believe that he didn't realize just how good he was. It was as if he was plugged into another universe. Loosing him was the single greatest tragedy the music world ever experienced. To say he was a legend didn't even begin to tell the truth of his genius!!! Those around him in this video knew what they were witnessing. He was an Angel sent from heaven. God I miss him so much!!!!!
