Just A Little Love
B.B. King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Some people die for hate
Some die for love
Some die because
They don't have a mate

But all I want
All I want is a little love
All I've ever wanted, people
All I want is just a little love

All I want a little bit of love
All I want is a little bit of love
All I want is just a little bit of love

Everybody say the world is large
But to me it's very small
Out of all of these women
I can't find no true love at all
All I want is just a little love
All I've ever wanted, mmm
Is just a little love

All I want is a little bit of love
All I want is a little bit of love
I say, all I want is just a little bit of love

All I want is a little bit of love

All I need is a little bit of love
All I want is just a little bit of love

Overall Meaning

B.B. King's song "Just a Little Love" is a heartfelt declaration of the universal desire for love. The lyrics are simple, yet powerful, as King conveys the idea that love is the one thing that everyone needs, and that it is worth dying for. King acknowledges that some people may die because they don't have a mate, while others may die for hate or love, but all he wants is just a little bit of love. The sense of longing and yearning is palpable in the repeated refrain of "All I want is just a little bit of love," which emphasizes the simplicity of this desire.

The second half of the song highlights the frustration that comes with searching for love, particularly when it seems that everyone else has found it except for oneself. King remarks that the world may seem large to some, but to him it feels small because he cannot find true love. The repetition of the phrase "All I've ever wanted, mmm" emphasizes the importance of this desire being the cornerstone of King's life. The song ends on a note of simplicity and repetition, as King concludes by stating that all he wants and needs is just a little bit of love.

I know this is an old question. But if you're still on the site, this performance is from a TV show called "Music Scene" that was on ABC.

This particular 'Lucille' is probably my favorite sounding of all the Gibsons that BB King has played. I believe that many of his late 1960s/early 1970s videotaped performances (Live in Africa, Soul Train, Sanford & Son, etc) were done while he was using this guitar. Its also important to note that this Lucille isn't actually black, more like a really dark Tobacco finish. But my, the tone...

Billy Crawford

It is a Gibson ES-355

Richard werkNprog Hall

Wow, I didn't catch that. Thanks for pointing it out though. And it makes sense that BB would've kept a backup of Lucille on hand, considering that he basically lived on the road during his lifetime.

+catboyzee I don't believe that the Lucille you see here is the same one he used while he was in Africa (and so on). I only say that because of the the vibrola unit, take a closer look. I may be wrong but it's just something that stuck out to me. The 1974 one had the socket for the arm, the one here doesn't. Im not saying that he didn't have it replaced or something but I think it would've been highly unlikely, especially since he didn't use the arm.

Richard werkNprog Hall

Wow, I'm surprised it wouldn't be in BB's possession. If it were me I would've held on to that axe for life.
