Monday Morning Blues
B.B. King Lyrics

Blue Monday, how I hate blue Monday
Got me workin' like a dog all day
Here comes Tuesday, oh hard Tuesday
I'm so tired, I've got no time to play
Look out Wednesday I'm beat to my bone
My girl calls, I gotta tell her I'm not home
She knows Thursday is a hard workin day
Til Friday I get paid
Oh Saturday morning, Saturday morning
All my tired has gone away
Got my money and my honey
And we're out on the town to play
Sunday morning my head is bad
But it's worth it, all the times I had
But I've still got to get my rest
For Monday is a mess Saturday morning,
Oh Satirday morning
All my tired has gone away
Me and my honey, we got some money
And were out on the town play
Sunday morning my head is bad
But it's worth all the times I had

But I've got to go and get some rest
For Monday is a mess!

Overall Meaning

In B.B. King's "Monday Morning Blues," the singer expresses his frustration and fatigue with the start of the workweek, painting a picture of a cyclical and draining lifestyle. He despises Monday mornings as they require him to work tirelessly like a dog all day. Tuesday is even worse as he is completely exhausted and has no time for leisure or fun. By Wednesday, the singer is completely beat to the bone, unable to even answer his girlfriend's phone calls. Thursday is another long and hard working day, but he looks forward to getting paid on Friday. Finally, the weekend arrives, and he is finally able to let loose and enjoy himself, forgetting the stresses of the workweek.

On Saturday morning, the singer has energy and excitement, having received his paycheck and enjoying a night out with his "honey." Sunday morning, however, his head is bad from a hangover, but he acknowledges that the fun he had was worth it. Regardless, he knows that he needs to rest up for the upcoming Monday, which he dreads once again.

This song is emblematic of the struggles and monotony of working-class life and the desire for a break from daily responsibilities. Through B.B. King's soulful vocals and blues-inspired guitar playing, the song captures the despair of being stuck in a daily grind and the euphoria of having a weekend of freedom.

He unites all races through his music. What an icon of peace in the world. RIP

I take offense at “all races “ we are all human race. Some people are better at some things than others. I have lived in most all places in this world. One thing I have determined is that we all have similar aspirations, but we have different cultures. We are all the same with differing abilities.
BB King’s ability for music was astounding. He and Lucile could make me cry. But he was of the same race as this white guy.

@musicisart2

Let's just say he's the GOAT.

@@tracylemme1375 I should have known you would say something pompous like that.
You correctin where there is no need.
