There I've Said It Again
B.B. King Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I love you, there's nothing to hide,
It's better than burning inside,
I love you, no use to pretend,
There! I've said it again.

I've said it, what more can I say,
Believe me, there's no other way,
I love you, I will to the end,
There! I've said it again.

I try to drum up,
A phrase that will sum up,
All that I feel for you.
But what good are phrases,
The thought that amazes,
Is that you love me,
And it's heavenly.

Forgive me for wanting you so,
But one thing I want you to know,

I've loved you since heaven knows when,
There! I've said it again.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to B.B. King's song "There I've Said It Again" express the singer's deep feelings of love for the person they are addressing. The first stanza reveals the singer's willingness to express their love honestly, without fear or hesitation. They would rather admit their love than suffer silently. The second stanza further emphasizes the singer's need to be truthful and expresses their love as a certainty that cannot be denied. They see no other way than to proclaim their love, and they will love this person until the end.

The third stanza describes the singer's struggle to capture their love for this person in words. They realize the limitations of language and that their love for this person is only truly understood by them. As such, they ask for forgiveness for wanting the person so badly, but they want them to know that their love is true and has been with them for a very long time.

Overall, the song is a declaration of love that is both honest and vulnerable, expressing the singer's longing for the other person and the joy they feel at being loved in return.

Love when he does a song that's on the jazzy side.

I still remember this song being sung by a girlfriend of my cousin. It was at an impromptu party at my house in the late 40s, in London. Sung while standing next to our old 'stand up piano' which was suffering from sticking keys because of damp from our bomb damaged roof.  A lovely song from the days when you could actually hear the words. Thankyou for the video.
