Leather
B.D. Wong Lyrics

You can see that they're broken in
Cos I been doing some walking
But not a lot of talking
You shuffle down the high-street
You love every girl that you meet
Well come close let me play the fool
You got something I fancy
Take at my brand new jeans
Cos there's a hole in the right knee
They cost lots of money [yeah]
But that's ok cos they make you stare
Hot pants are sexy on long legged ladies
Cos they're showing plenty
Cos I'm in love with the golden girl
She looks so fine she blows my mind
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
Last one to know
Last one to know
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
Last one to know
Last one to know
-
You see the lady in the grass skirt looking fit
If there's a back bit then she'd be in it
You wanna take out and take her down the disco
But all your friends just say she wouldn't want to
Cos I'm in love with the golden girl
She looks so fine she blow my mind
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
Last one to know
Last one to know
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is
You wanna take her out
But she is

In "Leather," B.D. Wong sings about his love for fashionable objects and the attractive people who wear them. He boasts about his leather boots, which have been "broken in" due to all the walking he's done in them. He contrasts himself with someone else on the high-street who is enamored with every girl they see but doesn't seem to have much substance beyond that. Wong also shows off his brand new jeans despite the fact that they have a hole in the right knee. He's willing to spend a lot of money on fashionable items because they catch people's attention, especially hot pants on long-legged women. The object of Wong's affection is the "golden girl," who he finds extremely attractive but is unable to take out because, as the repeated lyrics suggest, he is the last one to know.
"Leather" is a song that celebrates fashion and the superficial side of attraction. It's about wanting to be noticed and admired for one's style and taste. Wong's lyrics portray a character who is confident in his appearance and has a keen eye for what looks good. He's also attracted to others who share this interest and is drawn to the "golden girl" because of her undeniable beauty. But despite his willingness to spend money on fashionable items and his desire for attractive partners, he is ultimately left out in the cold when it comes to the "golden girl."

That scene was tremendous, for Wong's so incredible and surprising talent, for the randomness, the paradox and let's admit it, the pure funny part of it. I am def' willing to hear him performing a full version.
