I Don't Know Why I Love You
B.E.F. & Green Gartside Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I get a thousand thoughts in a day
Persuasions to view
Ideas to throw away
Not a single one is good enough
Er, perfect enough
To gratify my ego
I still try
Don't know why
I still try
I'm still a thousand lightyears away
The good ones drop by
But the shitty ones stay
If I catch a glimpse of something shiny
And I capture something tiny
I will find out what it eats
And I will learn to garden

I'll still try
Don't care why

Brilliant find..didn't know a video existed..such a cool collaboration between 2 seriously underrated artists (scritti/heaven17). Can't wait for the new scritti album.

For a cover dating back to 1991, this is a fantastic effort by Gartside. The piano arrangement at the beginning especially impressed me. The purists may hate this cover, but if Mr Miles Davis was willing to work with him there must be a lot right about him. Don't say it was the money that made Miles Davis play, as he didn't whore himself for money. Music meant too much to him.

What needs to be said about Green Gartside? Superb singer, songwriter and all round super nice guy. His decision to tour again over the past few years has made me a VERY happy man. Thanks Green .x
