Used in many foods since the 1950's, its been banned in many countries, but not the USA (except for infant food). It is thought today to be carcinogenic. These songs were recorded in '86 and '87. The B.H.T. portion of this demo was recorded live at Gillman Street Club in Berkeley. BHT played shows in Berkeley, Davis, Redwood City, Oakland, Pleasanton, etc. A year later, they were reformed as Anxiety after departure of BHT 's singer and the addition of another guitarist. Their guitarist and the rest of the band filled in on vocals. The last three tracks are the only recordings as Anxiety. They unfortunately broke up not long after the recoding of this demo. If you dug stuff like Rabid Lassie, Corrupted Morals, Unit Pride, The Accused, etc. you'll love this obscure beauty. Awesome Hardcore/Crossover!

that solo chet plays is so perfect. it captures the same sadness that he conveys in his voice, but his ideas still keep the flow moving. The melodies he plays are sad but hopeful, similar to the lyrics found in the head. Truly one of my favorite solos of all time.

He's not even all that great of a trumpet player, at least in terms of technical proficiency. He's a flawed, imperfect man.. and that "brokenness" is prominent in his playing and what makes him so relatable. That's why he's so great!

Although I only have two Chet Baker CDs I am willing to bet this is his masterpiece. His solo (1:24 - 2:10) is sublime and full of subtle emotion beyond compare. I've listened to this cut at least a hundred times over the decades and it still is a fresh as the first time I heard it. Also love his rendition of the refrain - or is it the chorus? I always mix those terms up - anyway, his playing from 0:00 to 0:35. This part is not improvisation, but is just so well performed with so much understated yet deep emotion.

I love that anime, I'm so sad that it was so short, if they would have went deeper in to their teenage lives and continued to build upon it for more season instead of cutting straight to adulthood I would have fell even deeper in love with it.

I was crushed when I heard Chet was gone. I had seen him at Fat Tuesday's in NYC. We chatted during a break. It was 1980 and he did not look well. But his singing and playing was so good. Michel Le Grand and Bud Shank walked in as well as Hal Galper. Besides his musicianship, there was something about Chet that was alluring.

This goes out to my first love, a girl who I loved truly. Unfortunately I loved her persona too much to realise that we were incompatible as romantic partners. It doesn't matter where people learn the music from, all that should matter is they enjoy it. I've been listening to Jazz for a good part of my life, now thanks to Sakamichi no Apollon I am being introduced to much more artists. Like in the first episode when Moanin by Art Blakey was featured. it's a wonderful tune. A bit stiff at the start but smooths out towards the end and I never would have heard it if not for this show. So really don't complain and say it's sad. Be happy more people like it

Chet actually lost his teeth by getting drunk and throwing rocks at a streetlight when he was about 16. One of the Rocks bounced back and knocked em out. Freakin amazing he could blow horn like that. I love this guy, I have heard some bootleg stuff that you just wouldn't freaking believe. I mean stuff where Miles could hold his Jock...Seriously, now flame away!!! ;-)
