Hi mate,

I bought a cheapo hot smoker and found I really enjoyed the food from it.
Started looking at a better version the Weber smokey mountain, these aren't cheap though and all they do is smoke.

I've always been aware of kamados and having spent a day watching this channel I was sold.

I've got a 4 burner gas BBQ for a quick easy option.

But the thing with the kamado is it's versatility, want to fire it up hot for a steak, no problem.
Want to close it down and run it for 12 hours low and slow, no problem.

They do everything.

I bought the junior as prices here in the UK are pretty high £2500 for the BJ3.

I thought start small and maybe in years to come get a bigger version to compliment the Jnr.

You can do plenty on the Jnr though as covered in one of the videos on this channel 👍🏻

Best wishes.

Thanks for all you do to support KJ nerdery! I’ve had my KJBJ series one for 7+ years and have been coveting the improvements on the II and III grills for a while now. I had recently been pondering a series III purchase, but you may have helped me feel better about what I have, thanks! Instead I’ll go after the slo-roller and other accessories, and save a bundle. One thing I’m frustrated by is my standalone purchase left me without a cart. Any suggestions on a good series I aftermarket cart for a Big Joe? KJ says the new cart won’t fit, though the measurements look so close…more importantly, did you feel the Big Joe moved well on the KJ cart? I haven’t been able to find anyone trying a cart fitting hack, but thought I’d ask you since it looks like you’ve tried just about everything else! Thanks again!

Love my Classic I. I added the Smokeware cap for rain protection and it’s great. Picked it years ago on clearance for $600 US. Customer service was great at Joe as they replaced my cracked 1-piece firebox with the multi piece under warranty. Based on your reviews I removed the ash guide and I just ordered the coal basket and slo-roller so I get to learn how to cook again!

Good stuff!

Thanks for breaking down all of the intricacies amongst kamados! I currently have an akorn jr that I love but my family is growing & it’s time to upgrade. My brother has a large BGE & parents have a primo oval XL. I’m really not a fan of the primo, the firebox is too close to the cooking area & we often find it hard to stay on target temperature while getting clean smoke. I really think I’m going to spring for the KJ classic 3 based on this but idk if I can justify it being more than double the cost of a KJ classic 1

I really like the idea of pairing big and little.

I've recently bought the jnr which I'm absolutely loving.

But in time and if funds allow I'd love a BJ1 to pair with it.

Great video, love the channel 👍🏻

I'd like to hear more about these. What do you find yourself using it for?

@Muddy Funker Sounds good. I thought you meant you already had a bigger KJ and added the junior. Glad you're enjoying it.

Haha yes I can see now how it looked like that.

No just the Jnr for now.

If I win the lottery I'll pick up a big joe 😂👍🏻

Smoking Dad BBQ

Thats a great combo for smaller week day cooks and larger meals ... plus the JR you can take places
