Overall Meaning

Great video. I would suggest just one thing, either take the wheels off or more simply yet, unplug one of motor leads so if you do something wrong the RC doesn’t shoot across your kitchen table and through a window!

Have you done one for the ESC set up? I'd like to change the punch setting but can't fathom how you know which parameteris being altered. Cars aren't like this when I were a lad 😂

Larry glad it's of help, I started recording this kind of stuff a while back as whilst I realise it's not something everyone needs today, it occurs to me that if I've wondered how to do it or struggled with it then it's worth recording it so it's easier for others. I did one on 'how to reverse Traxxas throttle' and am still stunned at how many views it gets and how much people like it. Glad it was of use and on the arrmas this can add 3-5mph on the top end, particularly on the 6s cars

I attempted to set my throttle and after following your directions, I held the button next to the power button and once I turned it on (while holding down that little button besides it), the light went off and does not allow me to set my throttle. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks buddy, I have a HSP Brontaurus 94111, I recently installed the Tactic ttx300 Transmitter and TTX325 receiver for better distance compared to their stock transmitter & receiver. I tried these instructions you showed in your video and wow, it works great on my HSP. Awesome, thanks for the help, really cured and improvemed my HSP performance, I own 2 Granites and it works great on those too!!

thank you, sir. I just got my Granite BLX last night and just set my throttle end points thanks to you. I also picked up a Hobbywing and a Racerstar ESC programmer and started to adjust both of my trucks. I set the Granite to punch 4 today and will try it soon. Not sure if I will go to 5 or not. I am going to hold off on the brakes for now and see how I like them. One thing though that I can't figure out. Does the stock tactic transmitter have 3 channels or just 2? I know the receiver has 3 channels but was looking at the transmitter and am wondering if the throttle trim buttons on the side also double as channel 3. I was going to maybe put some lights on mine. I also have a new Radio link RC6GS transmitter and a bunch of receivers with the GYRO so I may use it for the Granite.

Glad to be of help, I'd hold off on the punch 5, it'll wheelie on punch 3 as it is. Brakes will be down to personal preference as well. I am pretty sure the radio has 3 channels. There's a little square button on the transmitter (just above where your thumb rests) if memory serves me right. I've seen it in use on a friends car for changing gears on another RC.

@Driftomaniacs I am having issues believe it or not. The slipper clutch is missing the spring right from the factory so the first time I turned it on it pulled ahead like 5 feet and then stopped working. I tightened the slipper and it literally went for like 1 minute and then did it again. I got home and took it apart so I could put some lock tight on it and that is when I realized it did not have a spring in it. I guess I got one that was built on a Monday :) I will be calling my hobby shop tomorrow to see what they can do. Otherwise, I may have to call Horizon. I am in Canada so not sure how this will work out. I know parts are hard to get for these trucks.

To start, yes, I know this is an old post but wanted to clear up this problem.
For the 3s line, Arrma/Spektrum apparently built this delay into the system (to reduce stress on the driveline) but I doubt that's true. This lag or delay is typical of a sensor-less system, and is commonly referred to as 'cogging'. It takes a few rotations of the motor for the esc to detect the position of the rotor and 'sync' with it, which causes this delay. Because the motor is already synced when you are running, there is no delay when you grab full throttle. A sensored system, on the other hand, has a cable that relays the position of the rotor to the esc, eliminating that delay.
There are several ways to reduce or eliminate this effect (including buying a sensored system) but the 2 most common are gearing and battery. Going with a smaller pinion and/or larger spur will reduce this effect. They will make the motor spin faster so it will take less time for the motor and esc to sync. Also, a battery with a higher 'C' rating will help. You should use a battery with at least a 50C discharge rate but 70-80C is even better. The higher discharge results in more energy for the motor and esc to sync (try to avoid using NiMh cells). Your best option is always going to be a sensored system but that can be expensive. These suggestions should help though, making cogging less noticeable and your Arrma more fun! 👍

My BLX100 ESC throttle was super twitchy after being recalibrated and I had to crank up the exponential like 50%. Does the punch setting matter when recalibrating the ESC ?

Thanks man just installed this system in a tamiya tt02 kit I built. I did exactly as you said and it fixed the throttle issues I was having.

The only thing, in order to have the car run straight pulling the throttle back and reverse pushing forward, I had to swap the blue and orange wires. So the blue is plugged into the orange and the orange into the blue, does that sound normal?

No it's not but what you've done should be fine unless you can reverse the throttle from the transmitter that said sometimes when you do that with arrmas you end up with 50% fwds power and 100% reverse!

On it tony. Just fitted mip driveshafts to front of Rustler 4x4 at the same time swapping all bearings for ceramic! Who needs sleep. And damn it when you drop one they roll forever!! 20mins to find 1!!!!

@Tonys Rc Tech hey Tony you can set end points on that. Just look it up. Do you know if you have the 120amp esc or the 80amp? If you have email I could help you out and email a pic of the directions. Do you know what amp esc you have? Either way it should be able to be adjusted. Also lol at richie's comment...dafuq? Hello richie, I have trouble with my senton 6s blx. Everytime I turn off the transmitter, the car goes full speed in reverse. Also sometimes, without me pulling the trigger on transmitter, the car either goes forward or rearward by itself also full speed. Can you make a video about full set up of transmitter and receiver including the binding, failsafe and throttle end points. Thank you very much.

Always turn the car off first then transmitter. Otherwise the receiver does is own thing and the car can go nuts

Just received this model. Have they changed the options on this esc? I am unable to get a green light after releasing the set button while flashing red light. When holding down set button longer, it just goes into the tuning options (p.12). Therefore, I am unable to set the throttle end points as easily as you have shown. The manual has a different procedure for setting the throttle end points (p.14), which I have not tried yet. Also fyi, be aware there is no throttle trim on the TTX300?! The trim is set to 0 with no adjustment available.

First of all this is the procedure for the 4x4 BLX model and not the standard 4x4 (non BLX) model. Secondly fyi the TTX300 very clearly DOES have a Throttle Trim see this link - https://www.tacticrc.com/transmitters/tacj0300/index.php which on the first screen shows an image of the radio with a dial showing 'TH. TRIM', also how can it be set to zero if it has no throttle trim? That makes no sense - it has no trim but trim is set to 0??? I'll try and help but not sure we're talking about the same 4x4 BLX model here? All of the stuff I demonstrate in this video and the esc programming one are straight out of the 4x4 BLX model manual, and as shown in both videos the procedures work. Your comment on the TTX300 having no throttle trim when tactic's own website shows it does is very confusing. They haven't changed the ESC or radio a few months in to production I'm fairly sure.

further to my other comment the procedure I show in this video is for the throttle setup as detailed on page 11. Page 14 is for trimming the throttle end points. That's different to throttle setup. Which this video is about hence 'throttle setup' in it's title. Also even the manual clearly shows the throttle trim in it.

I do have the Grantite4x4 BLX 3s. My manual on p.13, bottom left, gives you the bad news about the throttle trim. Quote> "Throttle Trim factory default 0, adjustment is not necessary" My throttle trim is turned all the way to the left, in a fixed position, halfway push in. Cannot turn it. Also, I HAVE followed the procedure on page 11... no luck. I'm not stupid and will disregard your derogative comments. Perhaps Horizon Hobby has changed some things? I think the esc's used to come with xt90's, but now has the HH ec5 connector... maybe some other things also?

Isn't this all set from factory? Should this only need to be done if there is a problem? Or when you change remotes? What I mean is should I do this if my remote is working ok?

Well Chris in theory yes it is however stevo d 313 was having some throttle issues with his new one, like reverse being very intermittent so I shot this as it should help cure any unusual throttle issues, also when I first ran my Arrma nero it wasn't as fast as they quoted. I did this to it and it gained 5mph on the top end (Note that runs on 6s though), so I do this on all my new cars after that. Oh and if you change remotes then it definitely needs doing. Hope that helps, it's one of those things you rarely need to know but this'll help when you do need it.

Hello need help doing things for my regular senton (not 3s) the old one. I there is not button on the side on my on/off switch. The real problem is no throttle and blinking red esc. But my understanding is I need to do this.
I can’t find a button ANYWHERE to factory reset the esc. Or do these throttle adjustments
