Their situation has a significant impact on their behavior

They think their environment is all they can ever have

They ain't ever getting out and it's no joke
They believe they can never change their situation, and it's a serious issue

Probably is the best their lives are ever gonna get
This is the best scenario they can hope for in their lives

They don't believe they can succeed
They have no confidence in their ability to succeed

Or the opportunities you say are back there really exist
They have no belief in the possibilities that exist outside their current surroundings

'Cause they've been told from every day from the minute
They have grown up hearing about it

They were born by there fucked up parents that they ain't shit
The people around them have already decided that they will never achieve anything

Mum and dad never made nothin' of them selves
Their parents also did not do well in life

So, how can these kids do anything different?

Schools a waste of time, they're only gonna fail
They do not believe in the education system and think it is a waste of time

Their older brother went to jail, why ain't they gonna?
Their siblings have also not done well in life, which is why they think they will face the same fate

I mean the hang with thugs, they sell drugs
They are exposed to dangerous people who deal in illegal activities

Ain't afraid to put a couple slugs in you if you say something
Their surroundings are so unsafe that one has to be careful when interacting with them

They ain't all that way but you don't care either way
Although not everyone is the same in their community, people do not care about what separates these individuals from the general attitude of the rest

To you they're all just the same a bunch of fucking-
People have decided to view them in a certain way and judge them based on their existing biases

Used to the rap everyday
The situation they are in becomes a part of their daily existence

Looking for the devils pain
They hope that something good will come out of their tough situation

The young souls that went astray
Those who have lost direction in life

Reflect on their situation and how they feel

People now believe that the harsh reality is their only life

In contrast to nature, everything around them is made from artificial materials

The living conditions of people start defining who they become

And bullied the sky so everybody could see
Even the skies seemed to evoke negative emotions

Some birds were caged and will never be free
Some individuals have lost their freedom forever

And gradually people began to change there beliefs
With time, people's beliefs started changing

Until god was nothing more than just a fictional being
The belief in God started dwindling as people started believing in more worldly things

The worship and money merged all colors and creed
The love for money combined with people's different beliefs

Into one true religion that was driven by greed
A new religion started forming, motivated by greed

Corporate machines trying to sell you shit you don't need
Businesses started enticing people into purchasing unnecessary things

On television and the ad breaks in between
Ads were shown everywhere, including on TV

Until people only cared about material things
People started prioritizing material things over everything else

Not lives with other fellow human beings
Individuals lost empathy and compassion in their pursuit of materialism

And I'm guilty of it to or so it seems
The singer also feels that they too have lost sight of what is truly important

If you don't believe in something, then you'll fall for anything
If you don't have faith or a larger purpose to guide you, you will easily slip into habits or beliefs that might be harmful to you

And if that happens then you've lost your way
And when people lose their sense of direction or fundamental beliefs, they lose their way in life

Don't believe in something, then you'll fall for anything
It is crucial to have a larger purpose to strive towards in order to avoid falling into negative influences

Otherwise, you will be susceptible to anything and everything and may lose your way in life.
