Let's Do It Again
B.W.B Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Birds do it, bees do it
Even educated fleas do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

In Spain the best upper sets do it
Lithuanians and Letts do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love
The Dutch in old Amsterdam do it
Not to mention the Finns
Folks in Siam do it
Think of Siamese twins

Some Argentines, without means do it
People say in Boston even beans do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Romantic sponges they say do it
Oysters down in Oyster Bay do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Cold Cape Cod clams, 'gainst their wish, do it
Even lazy jellyfish do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Electric eels, I might add, do it
Though it shocks 'em I know
Why ask if shad do it
Waiter, bring me shadroe

In shallow shoals, English soles do it

Goldfish in the privacy of bowls do it
Let's do it, let's fall in love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to B.W.B's song "Let's Do It Again" are actually based on a popular jazz standard called "Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love" by Cole Porter, which was first introduced in the Broadway musical "Paris" in 1928. The song, which is about the universal theme of falling in love, has been covered by many artists over the years, including Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Diana Krall.

The lyrics describe how love is not limited by geography, culture, or even species, as they mention various examples of creatures and people who "do it" - that is, fall in love. From birds and bees to educated fleas, from Spaniards and Lithuanians to Dutch and Finns, from sponges and oysters to jellyfish and electric eels, the song celebrates the diversity and universality of love. The playful and humorous tone of the lyrics, with lines like "even lazy jellyfish do it" and "waiter, bring me shadroe", adds to the charm and wit of the song.

Overall, "Let's Do It Again" is a catchy and upbeat song that pays homage to a classic jazz standard and reminds us of the timeless power and magic of love.

Wow! Amazing! Love this tune! #SmoothJazz
