Nothing At All
B. Joe Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
If that's all it has to give, then hell, I'll take it
The songs in that jukebox, they're a little bit dated
If that's all it has to play, then go on and play it
You're like the smoke hangin' over me from these Marlboro Reds
The shot of Jack burnin' on my lips won't let me forget
Keep draggin' my heart back to used to be
Though it hurts like hell, I'll stay right here 'til last call
It ain't you, but it's better than nothin' at all
The booth in the corner where you first kissed me
The dance floor without your boots is a whole lotta lonely
It's just another Friday night of me hangin' on
This bar's the only place where it don't feel like you're gone
And all these memories surroundin' me
Keep draggin' my heart back to used to be
Though it hurts like hell, I'll stay right here 'til last call
It ain't you, but it's better than nothin'
Nothin' but the smoke, nothin' but these songs
Nothin' left but every reason I can't move on
And all these memories surroundin' me
Keep draggin' my heart back to used to be
Though it hurts like hell, I'll stay right here 'til last call
It ain't you (it ain't you)
But girl, it ain't you
But it's better than nothin' at all, mm
The lyrics to "Nothing at all" by B. Joe reflect the theme of a love that is all-consuming and requires complete commitment. The song opens with the line "All or nothing at all," which sets the tone for the rest of the lyrics. The singer of the song is asking for complete devotion from their love interest, claiming that a half-hearted love could never satisfy them. They would rather have nothing at all if their heart cannot be won over.
The next verse makes it clear that the singer wants a love that is all-encompassing, with no room for half-heartedness. The lyrics express the sentiment that love is not something that can be halfway, that it is either everything or nothing. The singer would rather not even start something that may not be able to fully materialize and be left with the regret of the missed opportunity.
In the last verse, the singer acknowledges the power of the love interest's attraction and the risk of being swept away but decides that all or nothing is the only way for them.
Overall, "Nothing at all" by B. Joe conveys the message that true love cannot be watered down or halfway – it is all or nothing.

Come on, clap your hands, back it up
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing
I told you from the start
Just how things would be
Expections for the one that would be with me
Now I tell you once again
I hope you'll understand
Just what you have to do
If you want a second chance
I don't need a fool around kind of woman
A woman who just can't be
Happy and devoted just to me
I need a one loving kind of woman
A woman that I can trust
Who's faithful and concerned about us
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing
A stylish kind of woman with class, looks real good
Who treats some man the way that she should
One who will give me all her love
One who will have me wanting more
That's the kind of woman I'm looking for
I don't need a fool around kind of woman
A woman who just can't be
Happy and devoted just to me
I need a one loving kind of woman
A woman that I can trust
Who's faithful and concerned about us
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing
I want the best
I won't settle for less
I want someone that is heaven sent
Someone to hold me tight
Someone who'll treat me right
And who'll understand
And treat me like a man
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing
I've gotta have all or nothing, baby
With me there is no maybe
If you want to be my lady
It's all or nothing

When Joe 1st came out, they was saying that he wasn't going to last. Aaron Hall & R Kelly was out and said that there wasn't enough room for Joe. Well Aaron fizzled after his 1st album, Kellz had a amazing career, Joe had a spectacular career. No drama just put out quality R&B music. Joe has at least 4-6 classic Albums. Joe is my favorite RnB artist.
