Hard To Get Around

Heard they crowded the floor
Couldn't bear it without you
Don't get around much anymore
Thought I'd visit the club
Got as far as the door
They'd have asked me about you
Don't get around much anymore
But nevertheless why stir up memories
Been invited on dates
Might have gone but what for
Awfully different without you
Don't get around much anymore
Darling, I guess my mind's more at ease
But nevertheless why stir up memories
Been invited on dates
Might have gone but what for
Awfully different without you
Don't get around much anymore
The lyrics to B.b. & Q. Band's "Hard To Get Around" deal with the pain of missing someone and the difficulty in moving on. The song starts by referencing a dance that the singer missed, and hearing about the crowded dance floor without their significant other makes them realize how much they miss them. The singer attempts to visit a club, but can't bring themselves to go in because they know they'll be asked about their missing partner. The refrain of "don't get around much anymore" emphasizes their isolation and loneliness.
The second verse finds the singer reflecting that their mind is more at ease without their partner, but they still miss them terribly. They've been invited on dates, but can't bring themselves to go because it's "awfully different without you". The refrain is repeated, adding to the sense of resignation and sadness that pervades the song.
Overall, "Hard To Get Around" is a mournful ballad about love lost and the struggle to move on. The singer recognizes that they are stuck in the past, but they can't stop missing their partner.
