Long live our noble queen
God save the queen
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the queen
Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign
May she defend our laws
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the queen
God save our gracious queen
Long live our noble queen
God save the queen
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the queen
The song "God" by Gary Barlow is a deeply introspective and reflective piece on spirituality and the search for meaning in life. The lyrics present a series of questions about the complex and often difficult decision of whether to keep one's faith private or to share it with the world. The title itself refers to the idea of finding God and the implications of that discovery on one's personal and public life. The opening lines, "Persevere, keep on searching / I guarantee that one day we’ll be found," encourage the listener to continue seeking, even if they have not yet found what they are looking for. The mention of "divine intervention" and "solid ground" evoke a sense of hope and stability that can come from finding faith.
The song goes on to address the challenge of reconciling personal beliefs with the world around us. The lyric "For every sin and your repentance / Can be forgiven he's the man who can" speaks to the human need for forgiveness and redemption, offering a sense of comfort that is often sought after in religious belief systems. The idea of "Sharpen your arrows now" suggests that there may be conflict or resistance to sharing one's faith, and that one must be prepared to defend their beliefs. The repeated questioning of whether one would keep their discovery of God a secret, or share it with others, speaks to the complex emotions and personal choices involved in spiritual discovery.
Overall, "God" is a thought-provoking and introspective song that speaks to the complexities of spirituality and faith. It explores the idea of finding meaning in life and the difficult decisions that can come with that discovery.

Persevere, keep on searching
Don't give up, keep looking for what you believe in
I guarantee that one day we’ll be found
You will eventually find what you're looking for
Who will see divine intervention
Who will recognize when Heaven intervenes
A lottery while we stand on solid ground
Like winning the lottery while we are already in a good position
As the world stands in line
As the world waits patiently for answers
The bells start to chime
Signaling the arrival of something great
If your life’s helpless then it’s time
If you're feeling lost, it's time to find direction
They knew you could run
God knows you can overcome obstacles
They knew you could fight
God knows you have the strength to fight for what you believe in
Sharpen your arrows now
Be ready to use what you've got
If you found God and he gave you hope
If you find spiritual enlightenment and it gives you hope
Would you tell the world or save your soul?
Would you share your newfound knowledge, or keep it to yourself for personal growth
Would you take Him home
Would you welcome God into your life fully
Would you open the curtains or keep them closed?
Would you expose your beliefs or keep them hidden
Would it be your secret?
Would you keep your newfound beliefs private
Try your faith and all their answers
Test your beliefs and knowledge gained from others
All been quoted from the book of man
All of the answers are from human interpretation of religious texts
For every sin and your repentance
No matter what you've done, there is always a chance for redemption
Can be forgiven he’s the man who can
God has the power to forgive
The place and the time
When and where to act upon your beliefs
It’s in your bloodline
It's in your heritage and upbringing
Never be easy on yourself
Don't let yourself off the hook when it gets tough
For a king and a son
Reference to Jesus and his sacrifice
The steeple’s still strong
Despite changes in society, religion endures
Put down your rifle and sleep
Stop fighting and find peace
Could anyone really be that selfish?
Questioning those who keep their spiritual beliefs to themselves
Could anyone really be that cruel?
Questioning those who don't share their hope with others
To keep the king of heaven and earth right next to you
To keep God always in your heart and mind
Keep on looking, keep on looking
Continue to seek answers
Would it be your secret?
Would you keep your beliefs to yourself
