I trotted out 'counterpoint the surrealism of the underlying metaphor' in an English class once

I loved how in the TV version for Paula Neil Milne Johnson (Adams changed the gender for TV and the book IIRC) used the animation rendering of Adams himself with female hair.

Such a classic, missing only the introductory description of the imagery intensifiers and simile dumpers into which our favored folks were strapped, so that no escape from the audible torture was at all possible during the reading. ;)

One thing I like about the new movie vs this is that Aurthur didn't feel pain for it and was just confused. It just seemed so... human.

It misses the joke though. The point was that some poetry is just so bad it’s painful to listen to for everyone. Having him not being affected detracts from that
