Personally, I think this film is an excellent comedy classic of the 21st century. One of the funniest films I've seen in the last decade. Only Tropic Thunder was funnier for me of all the comedies I've seen. The best thing about 'The men who stare at goats' also, is that it's based on a true story, and having gone to a military boarding school in the 90's, with plenty of drugs there (at the time), I can quite believe the film is more realistic than we dare perhaps think. It's a beautiful, touching, hilarious movie, which is captured with such sincerity for friendly wit by the performers, it's hard not to love the Western Empire all the more for actually making this sort of thing. Proper entertainment, based in real life, and so, so funny when it hits the mark. As I said to some London friends recently: 'Life when perceived with actuality of objective reality is as it appears... a divine comedy'.

@hYpYz I didn't get stoned and yet I too laughed my head off. Arguably the silliest movie of the last 5 years, as inconsistent as it is entertaining. Whether you end up liking it or not, it is nevertheless a film you have to see (although probably just the once).

The cast, acting, premise & score are very good, however the film’s length, direction, script & pacing are poor, which makes this film A disappointment. (60%) (3/5 stars) (mixed)

I was disappointed, got very boring but nothing else was on ... the book supposed to be alot better, and yeah I think he is being polite to the author

definitely had its funny moments (a lot of them)...and when they were funny they were extremely funny ...but it just wasn't consistent in following up and you kinda lost interest in between

All the best bits are in trailer? Forget it then, not going to waste money on this film. Even though Clooney is awesome in all these atypical films he's doing.
