D'une danse mouvementée
J'embrasse tes lèvres mortes
Et j'essaie...
De déchiffrer tes yeux
De te rendre amoureuse de moi
Mais je suis à ce jeu maladroit
Tous deux pris on sort
Finir ivre mort
Ça me plaît
Tu avoues et je veux
Finir amoureux de toi
Je te suis à ce jeu maladroit
Tous deux pris on sort
D'une danse mouvementée
The lyrics to BB Brunes's song Je Maladroit represent a scene where two people are leaving a party together after a "movimentée" and energetic dance. The singer finds himself kissing the lips of the other person who is not responsive, leading him to try and interpret their eyes to find out whether they reciprocate his feelings or not. He makes an effort to make them fall in love with him, but his attempts come across as clumsy and awkward.
As they leave the party and walk past the cafes, the singer enjoys the idea of getting drunk and confessing his feelings to the other person, hoping they will eventually fall in love with him too. Yet, he is aware of his own awkwardness and inexperience when it comes to matters of the heart. The singer understands that he is not confident in his approach and when it comes to love he doesn't think of himself as someone worthy.
The song describes a relatable scenario, where one person fails to express their romantic interest in a way that is both confident and attractive, leading to a sense of confusion, frustration, and doubt. The lyrics take you on an emotional journey of yearning to be loved but struggling to articulate those feelings. It has a certain melancholic and nostalgic tone, evoking the feeling of young love, clumsy moves, and the pains of growing up.
