Medley
BB King and Bobby Bland Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you'll be sorry someday
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although, I'll still live on
But so lonely I'll be
The thrill is gone
It's gone away for good
The thrill is gone baby
It's gone away for good
Someday I know I'll be open armed baby
Just like I know a good man should
You know I'm free, free now baby
I'm free from your spell
Oh I'm free, free, free now
I'm free from your spell
And now that it's all over
All I can do is wish you well
The lyrics to BB King and Bobby Bland's song Medley convey feelings of a man who has been wronged by his lover and is finally coming to the realization that the thrill in their relationship is gone. The repetition of the phrase "The thrill is gone" throughout the song emphasizes the emptiness he feels as he tries to move on from the relationship. He expresses his belief that his lover will one day regret what she did to him, but for him, the thrill is gone for good.
The line "Although, I'll still live on, But so lonely I'll be" is particularly poignant as he acknowledges that even though he will continue with his life, he will still feel the pain and loneliness of losing the thrill he once had with his lover. The final lines of the song "And now that it's all over, all I can do is wish you well" show that he has come to a place of acceptance and closure in his relationship.
Overall, the song is a deeply emotional and introspective look at the end of a romantic relationship and the struggle to move on from the loss of something once cherished.

You have no Idea what THIS medley of BLUES means to me. There are no words. Memories all collected, gathered, and somewhat mushed together in a warm delightful ball of appreciation and happiness. My Lord... I can only say ... If I knew then what I know now, but how can you know. I suppose that's what makes it so precious. The innocence mystic of the memory. Nothing but a blessing. That line that says "COME BACK, BABY ...PLEASES, don't go, further on down the road, you will reap just what you sow. Gonna miss you when you're gone. You told me that. But I guess, I was just NOT in a place I could Hear..... REAL TALK
