The lyrics to BOØWY's song Angel Passed Children reflect the dark realities of a criminal and psychotic world. The opening lines "歪んでもつれた Criminal World" (Distorted and entangled criminal world) set the tone for the rest of the song. The following lines talk about a character who indulges in heavy drinking and substance abuse "バーで吹きまくる Chicken Shit" (Blowing smoke in the bar like a chicken) and is caught up in a clockwork routine of rock and roll "A clock clock clock work Rock'n Roller." The song then talks about how their consciousness is ripped apart "意識がちぎれて Psycho Crime" and they lament their state with the refrain of "シラケちまうぜ シラケちまうぜ" (I'm withering away).
The chorus of the song talks about the title, "Angel Passed Children." The use of the word "Angel" creates a contrast to the earlier depiction of a criminal and distorted world. It alludes to the idea that the innocence of childhood has passed, and they are now living in a world where angels have already passed them by. The lyrics then shift to talking about how people put on a tough and wild exterior, but they are really sensitive and crave someone to listen to their troubles "やたらワイルドなニュースキャスターが今夜も叫んでる" (The wild news anchor is shouting again tonight). The song ends with a repetition of the chorus.
Overall, the lyrics convey a sense of disillusionment and sadness about the state of the world and the people living in it. It portrays a generation who has lost its innocence and is struggling to cope with the harsh realities of their existence.
