All the music made today is synthesized so all the drumming and beats all sound a like. The music back in 90’s and before that were all produced by real drums and Instruments. If you listen carefully each drum beat and instrument sounds different and unique. There’s a different type of thump that just hits different.

There were exceptions of course, but by and large, at least here in the US, there was a notable retraction away from orchestras, strings and horns in 1980. Europe was different. On Wikipedia, I read some excellent discussion (with sources cited and links for readers to follow) about that rather abrupt transition, along with the rise of the many subgenres of dance music that developed post-disco. It's an excellent read (link to follow). By 1981, projects like Boys Town Band were ignored by American radio and tended to be played only by DJ's in big city discos and gay clubs. There remained a gay audience, buying those records, but the numbers paled in comparison to 1978 or 1979. By contrast, audiences in the UK remained more receptive to disco's orchestration and four-on-the-floor well into the early-mid 80's, but I digress.

I think the popularity of the Village People provides a clear snapshot of the disco 'crash' of 1980. From Wikipedia: "The group's fame peaked in 1979 with a three-month North American tour, several appearances on The Merv Griffin Show and American Bandstand, and performing with Bob Hope to entertain U.S. troops. They were also featured on the cover of Rolling Stone, Vol. 289, April 19, 1979. Willis left the group in August 1979, during production of the upcoming musical movie tentatively titled Discoland: Where the Music Never Ends. He was replaced by Ray Simpson, the brother of Valerie Simpson (of Ashford & Simpson) who had previously sung background vocals with the group on their 1979 tour. The end of 1979 saw the release of Live and Sleazy, a double album featuring Victor Willis on lead vocals on the “Live” disc and Simpson's debut with the group on the "Sleazy" disc.
1980–1985
In June 1980 the feature film now retitled Can't Stop the Music was released. The film was directed by Nancy Walker, written by Allan Carr and Bronte Woodard, music and lyrics by Jacques Morali (except Willis who penned the lyrics to "Milkshake" and "Magic Night") and starring Steve Guttenberg, Valerie Perrine, Jean-Claude Billmaer, and Bruce (Caitlyn) Jenner. By the time it was released disco's popularity had waned. At the March 1981 Golden Raspberry Awards, the movie was named Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay, and was nominated in almost all the other categories. Although the title song became a club play chart success and moderate radio hit, it was nominated for Worst Original Song "Razzie" and did not live up to sales expectations, never obtaining gold status as a single or album.[11]

Everytime I look deeper into the cover photo, I am just more and more confused. Why are there 3+ negative and positive terminal being jacked into the battery? What does the man intend to do with that battery? Where are the negative terminals even going in the front of the tool cart? Why is that jeep so clean? Why are the dudes so sweaty? What the hell are they even working on? Why are they all super sweaty and covered in more grease than a new table vise? Why is that battery so particularly dirty? Why is that man staring straight into my soul? What is that guy in the black shirt staring at? Why is there a bandana lookin' thing jutting out of that tool tray?

Most of all, why is any of this on the cover-page for this particular song? I know not the answers to any of these questions, but there is one thing that I know to be true: this song do be boppin'.
