Classically trained from the age of 13, he attended Berklee College of Music in Boston for one year before dropping out and moving to Los Angeles, California, and then back to Washington, D.C..

From an early age, BT demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for playing and understanding classical music. He was heavily influenced by avant-garde and romantic composers such as Stravinsky, Bartok, Debussy and Rachmaninov. His biggest influences, however, were from everyday sounds that most would take for granted, from noticing the meter of the grandfather clock in the foyer to the micro-rhythms of crickets and cicadas to the ambience of passing trains at night.

The drive to actualize the tools BT envisions has led to his evolution as one of the most cutting-edge programmers and technologists in music today. He has expanded this reach into a visionary software venture, Sonik Architects which launched its critically- and commercially-acclaimed iPhone application, Sonifi™.

Brian Transeau is the father of a young daughter, Kaia. He lives and composes his works in his Los Angeles home/studio in which he has a few Apple G5's and 8 AMD dual-core Opteron 64-bit desktops which he uses for his techno-wizardry.

BT has released 8 albums and has scored over a dozen films. His most critically acclaimed album, "This Binary Universe" (released August 29, 2006), was composed in 5.1 surround sound and contains animated videos for each song, presenting a new way of experiencing music.

BT works with multiple computers and the CSound programming language to help craft his work. He also owns a company, Sonik Architects, which develops both VST and VSTi programs which he uses in his own productions.

2022 and I have often been acussed of "dancing like BT composer style". I did buy a Mitsubishi eclipse not based on this song. Team Ford SVT Lightning all the way.
Also duh it's Red 2003 for sale out of my dead hands. I did very much feel bad leaving 97 Eclipse at the dealership. Was on the waitlist several months to even test drive a used one. Sorry Eclipse you were a very fun car.
Very high powered sound system in that car. Dealer said pull all of your gear out. Just shove the factory deck in it. It does not have to work.

My Husband has been djing since 1998 and B.T. is his fave. Me and my bestie knew B.T. was doing an impromptu set here in Austin during SXSW 2010. We went to the show. The whole time you could see that B.T.'s girl was bitching at him to leave during the whole set.
He left thru the crowd and totally singled out my guy; came up afterwards and only gave him a handshake and a hug. It was totally Kismet/meant to be.
I wish I had a picture.

BTs programs have not been released to the public yet. Only a few close friends have it (DJs mostly), and when this song (and album) came out he hadn't created break tweaker (his program) yet. He actually did everything on this album and every stutter before that by hand. Which requires you to physically cut the wave files into pieces and space them a certain way (depending on what you want) to make glitch patterns. Only on his recent two albums has he been using break tweaker to help.

It was my senior year in high school...the album this song was on, Emotional Technology was the first CD I ever bought. I still own and enjoy it.

There are 2 Gods of vocal edit music - one of them is BT, and the other one is Andy Moor. And i am telling you this as a BT listener for over 25 years. Btw, Andy even kept his original style for over 20 years, he released 7 months ago Wild dream (Extended remix), try it and see what he does even today with vocals, he is abusing the frequency like BT does - what a legends!
