The Force of Gravity
BT Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Remember the words we used to speak
The promises made have turned to all apologies
The weight of a storm, our memories
Still you fly to fight the force gravity

The force of gravity

Remember the words we used to speak
The promises made have turned to all apologies
The weight of a storm, our memories
Still you fly to fight the force gravity

I remember the days I still could breathe
Now I'm sinking beneath, the waves are crashing over me
The empty space that lay between
is all that's left of where our love was meant to be

The force of gravity

Do you cry your eyes to sleep?
Is it peace you seek at night when your body's weak?

Did I leave you with the scars of a war torn ravished heart?
Do you cry your eyes to sleep?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of BT's song "The Force of Gravity" seem to be reflecting on a past relationship that has since ended. The first verse talks about how the promises that were made have now turned into apologies, and how the memories of the relationship weigh heavily like a storm. Despite this, the person still fights against the "force of gravity," perhaps alluding to the force of the past and trying to move on from it. The second verse reflects on how the person used to feel like they could still breathe, but now they're drowning and the waves are crashing over them. The empty space between them is all that's left, a tangible reminder of where their love used to be. The lyrics end with a series of questions; whether the other person cries themselves to sleep or seeks peace in the night, and if the singer left them with scars on their heart.

Overall, the song seems to be a reflection on a past relationship that has ended badly, and the pain and regrets that come with it. The metaphor of gravity is used frequently throughout the song, perhaps representing the pull of the past and the difficulty of moving on.

I'm discovering many trance tracks from the early 00's it's like a fresh wind blowing in your face. I particularly the reverb all over the track, close your eyes and it will look like you're floating in the air!

@DirtyXProdz

yeeeeesss!!!

@Mizzlenum

I'm soon to be 52 years old and since the mid '90s I've been listening to trance, but it was a time where this was so abundant that it was hard to appreciate it all. Now i'm going backwards and staring to appreciate more all this music that I already had for years. But the ISOS from tiesto, if you can ge the unmixed versions of all 7 ISOS...it's all full of gems.

@GodOfKhaos

I was literally in the middle of working on a remix of this song when my hard drive crashed and I lost it... kinda sucks. That was a long time ago tho.

@Shmeckie

As far as I'm concerned, this is BT's best song. It's absolutely amazing. The melody, the ambiance, the mood, the way it switches from emotional to upbeat and back again... Incredible...!
