Goldie Lookin Chain's 2004 hit "You Knows I Loves You" is, in part, based around "I Need You," containing many of the same lines, for instance "I'm after your heart/oh don't you see" (which on the BVSMP original, concludes with "I'm not out to get your virginity", and on the GLC version becomes "and your three kids doesn't bother me") and "What's it gonna take to get your attention?" This song was a regular in Zimbabwe, on a music programme then-called Sounds on Saturday which later changed name to Music Box and then to Coke on the Beat when it became sponsored by Coca Cola. Together with WWF wrestling, it was staple prime time entertainment for Zimbabwean households in the 80s and early 90s. The equivalent of 30 minutes of MTv every Saturday at 7pm. You didn't want to miss it.
