It has been released as a single on 17 September 2007 on EMI. Pete Doherty designed the artwork for the single.
The Q magazine has rated Delivery n°1 of the 50 Essential Songs (Q50) of month of September. Delivery was also The Track Of The Week in the issue of the NME with Pete Doherty on the cover in August.
The video has been directed by Douglas Hart. The video premiered on Channel 4 on Saturday 18 August 2007 at 12:12 am.
The entire video has a monochrome look and was shot on colour stock, Super 8 and high contrast black and white 35mm film. The video mainly features a miming Doherty pacing purposely down the middle of a deserted city street, dark suited and fedora hatted.
The pace of the video speeds up, with rhythmic freeze frames and zooms, as it cuts between Doherty and McConnell, Whitnall and Ficek – who are seen driving a Jaguar. The video also features Doherty playing around with his hair in front of a mirror. One of Doherty's kittens gets a look in at one point during the video and a quick glimpse of Doherty's new "Astile" tattoo is seen. The video culminates with all the band members taking an upbeat night-time city tour from their Jaguar car.

Cast adrift of the shores of shorty's nation
I had a lick, it caved my skull in like a brick
Call now, what use am I to anyone
I'm fucked, forlorn, frozen beneath the summer
Don't sing along or you'll get what I got
Straight from the heart of my misery
So, here comes a delivery
Straight from my heart to you
Yeah you, now you, now you, you finally left school
Oh, what on earth do you intend to do?
See if you can take the man go downtown
Where all your skins and mods, you get together
Make pretend it's 1969 forever
Find a girl, have a drink, have a dance and play
It's a song that deliver me
Straight from the harshness of misery
Is a song that you'll ever hear
Straight from my heart to you
Yes, here comes a delivery
Straight from the heart of my misery
Or a song might deliver me
Straight from my heart to you
Yes, here comes a delivery
Straight from the heart of the misery
Here comes a delivery
Straight from my heart to you
The song "Delivery" by Babyshambles tells a story of a man who is lost, lonely, and struggling to find his place in the world. In the first verse, he speaks of being cast adrift from "shorty's nation," which could refer to a group or community he once belonged to. He then says he had a "lick" that caved his skull in like a brick, potentially alluding to a physical or emotional injury that has left him feeling broken.
The chorus speaks of a delivery coming straight from the heart of his misery, which could refer to the act of creating and performing music as a means of catharsis. The second verse is addressed to someone else, asking what they intend to do now that they've left school. The singer advises them to go downtown and participate in the subculture of skins and mods, and to enjoy drinking, dancing, and playing.
Overall, the song seems to be about finding solace in music and the connections formed through subcultures, as well as grappling with feelings of isolation and disconnection.

This is the song that started it all for me with Pete. I remember it clearly. It was 2007. A dreary ass day in New Jersey. I was driving home from the gym and this came on satellite radio as I was flipping thru channels. I happened to fall upon the station that was playing this right as the song started. I remember being legit blown away by this song, and I've been a Pete fan ever since. I have a couple tribute playlists on my channel to his music if anyone wants to check those out, but they're fairly standard even if I did put a lot of love into making them. Love ya, Pete. Thanks for all the great tunes over the years. You're a great song writer and you deserve a place in history as a great poet of our times. Cheers, man. Wishing you nothing but health and happiness in this crazy journey called life.

That day was a great day for you my friend.
Pete is a genius.

Your comment warmed my heart up. I was Libs fan but thanks to Polish tv and radio and terrible internet I had back then, that was somehow my first Babyshambles song and it cemented my love for Peter and his music. Till this day I rock same hat, to be honest I find Babyshambles better than The Libertines (which I love so much, I finally got my libertine tattoo). Same with his solo work. I will check your playlists if you still have them up. Fact, that you created them with love is enough to convince me ✨🖤

It's a great song, but there are great things in 2020 too. For example, the new Strokes album is fantastic.
