No me he vuelto a emborrachar
Oigo el recodo y no me duelen tus recuerdos
Y yo se
Que tal como prometí
Estoy bebiendo ahora por mi
No te volví a llamar
Ni voy a hacerlo nunca más
Lo que me premie la razón
Me aprendí a dominar a mi corazón
No te volví a llamar
Ni voy a hacerlo nunca más
Lo que me premie la razón
Me aprendí a dominar a mi corazón
Me aprendí a dominar a mi corazón
The song La Mexicana by Bacilos is about a man who is still thinking about his ex-girlfriend and wondering about her whereabouts and actions, even though they are no longer speaking. He talks about his current life, including his job at Citibank, where he lives by the beach, and how he has been able to control his drinking. He mentions that he sometimes thinks about her at night, but he has learned to control his heart and not call her anymore.
The repetition of the phrase "Y en la noche una que otra noche yo pienso en ti" (And at night, every now and then, I think of you) emphasizes the fact that even though he has moved on and is leading a better life, he still thinks about his ex-girlfriend from time to time. He acknowledges that he owes a lot of his career and personal growth to her, but he's now confident that forgetting her is the right choice.
Overall, this song touches on the relatable experience of still thinking about someone from your past, even if you've moved on and are living a better life without them.
