Richardson permanently rejoined the group in 2012. In the following year, they celebrated their 20th anniversary and released their first independent album, In a World Like This. Their follow-up album DNA (2019) debuted at number one, more than two decades after the group formed and 19 years after they last topped in 2000. They also became the first boy band to top the U.S. album charts in three different decades.
The Backstreet Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling boy band of all time, and one of the world's best-selling music artists. They are the first group since Led Zeppelin to have their first ten albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200, and the only boy band to do so. The albums Backstreet Boys and Millennium were both certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), making them one of the few bands to have multiple diamond albums.
The group received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 22, 2013.[ They also released their first documentary movie, titled Backstreet Boys: Show 'Em What You're Made Of in January 2015. In March 2017, the group began a residency in Las Vegas that lasted two years, titled Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life. They released their first Christmas album, A Very Backstreet Christmas in 2022.

Backstreet Boys Lyrics

I-I-I- gotta make make my way
Way through all these people.
I didn't put all this money
Just so so I I can see ya'
I'm about to act a (?) fool,
I used to dawg on you.
Chicky bon bon bon me.
Run it back (?)
I got technology,
X-Ray vision anything
I can see through.
I get static every time you speak,
Frequency got to be equal.
I'm tired of playing,
Can't even hear the shit you saying.
It's like (make the noises? LOL)
Hologram, I'm pushing up close
But it's hard to get to ya.
Hologram, there's a glitch
In the system tell me
What I gotta do now.
Oh damn.
Illusion, confusion,
I'm losing ground (Oh oh oh)
Hologram.
(Hey hey hey. Hologram.
Hey hey hey hey)
(Hey hey hey. Hologram.
Hey hey hey hey)
(Oh oh oh oh oh. Hologram)
You want me to flip the switch
So I I can be your victim.
I ain't gotta slip up
Like going it outside in the rain
With no umbrella.
What the hell you take me for.
I'ma take a different route.
I'm about to bon bon
Chicky bon bon bon me.
Run it back (?)
Bang bang choo-choo train,
Baby put that thing on me.
You'd rather see my main frame,
Not the cage.
You about to see another side of me.
And she'd be like T minus 7,
Before my system shut us down.
Matter of fact I think
I'm about to shut down right now.
Hologram, I'm pushing up close
But it's hard to get to ya.
Hologram,
There's a glitch in the system
Tell me what I gotta do now.
Oh damn.
Illusion, confusion,
I'm losing ground (Oh oh oh)
Hologram.
(Hey hey hey. Hologram.
Hey hey hey hey)
(Hey hey hey. Hologram.
Hey hey hey hey)
(Oh oh oh oh oh. Hologram)
I'm tired of playing with you,
Right now I think your times up.
Giving mixed signals
That I don't have control of.
I'm losing my mind,
Perfect model before my time.

The Backstreet Boys' song Hologram explores the complexities of a relationship that feels artificial and distant. The chorus repeats the word "hologram," playing on the idea of someone being present but not really there. The singer is frustrated with this illusion and wants to connect on a deeper level with the person they are addressing. They describe feeling like they are losing ground and becoming confused by the mixed signals they receive.
The verses contain a lot of language about technology and the ability to see beyond the surface level. The singer references x-ray vision and static, playing on the idea of someone trying to see through a facade. They express a desire to be heard and understood, but feel like their efforts are falling on deaf ears. The "bang bang choo-choo train" line suggests a desire for passion and intimacy, but the barrier of the hologram makes it difficult to achieve.
Overall, the song Hologram is about the frustration and disconnect that can come with modern technology and online communication. The Backstreet Boys are singing about a common experience of feeling like something is missing when you try to connect with someone digitally. Despite the song's futuristic language, the emotions it expresses are timeless.

Another good one!!! They need to release these upbeat ones like "Let It Got" and "Trouble". Go back to some of their roots with good dance songs.
