Originally formed as a jazz fusion ensemble under the name Mind Power, Bad Brains developed a very fast and intense punk rock sound which came to be labeled "hardcore", and was often played faster and more emphatically than many of their peers. The unique factor of the band's music was the fact that they played more complex rhythms than other hardcore punk bands, also adapting diverse guitar styles into their songs.
Bad Brains have released nine studio albums (one of which is entirely composed of instrumental versions of their early material). The band broke up and reformed several times over the years, sometimes with different singers or drummers. Since 1994, the "classic" lineup of singer H.R. (Human Rights), guitarist Dr. Know, bassist Darryl Jenifer, and drummer Earl Hudson has reunited, albeit performing sporadically.

Yes Jah
Bad Brains Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
people don't know where to go.
Jah will always be there.
People just suffering everywhere.
Hold on don't despair.
Jah will always be there.
it's hard to make away so hold on
children. Hold on.
What is true.
Who the cap fit is who will wear it.
So move aside
oh evil man
move far from here.
''Chorus:''
Yes Jah love. Yes Jah love.
Shine so very early in the morning
bright like the moon in the evening
Listen and I'll tell you just what I know
jump high jump low.
Jah will always be there.
Pain never know you, pain never will.
Just you look an you will find.
Jah will always be there.
Jah!
Sew a fruit tree
and fruit you'll reap.
Plant not a seed
and your life it won't keep.
Hold on, children, hold on.
Respect all creation
and don't have a fear.
Know what you know and not what you hear.
Hold on children.
''Chorus''
I love I love yes I love I love Haile Selassie.
We give our god thanks and praise everyday.
We know we're safe in every way.
The song "Yes Jah" by Bad Brains is a powerful message about faith, perseverance, and the teachings of Haile Selassie. The song alludes to the struggles of daily life and the obstacles that one may face, especially during tough times. The lyrics suggest that no matter what one goes through, Jah (God) will always be there.
The song starts with "Living in times when things are slow, people don't know where to go, Jah will always be there". This line suggests that during difficult times when people are stuck, Jah/God is a source of guidance and strength. The following lyrics speak to the suffering in the world and encourage those affected to hold on and have faith. The chorus speaks to the love and light of Jah and how it can shine bright even in moments of darkness.
The song then addresses the idea that one reaps what they sow, urging listeners to plant good seeds and respect nature. It also speaks to the importance of being discerning and not just believing everything one hears. The final lines express love and gratitude to Haile Selassie, the former emperor of Ethiopia who is revered as a religious figure in the Rastafari movement.
Overall, the message of the song is one of hope and the need for faith and perseverance during challenging times.

Power to The People
I like how they had reggae, hardcore punk, and thrash on one album. The sounds are completely different and it only shows how talented of musicians they are.
