Martha Wash is the most underrated singer of all time. She could be singing happy birthday and it would sound amazing. Her voice is on another level. Sadly many don't know that a lot of famous songs you've heard were actually her singing and performed by models, because Martha was discriminated against due to her size. This is something that has always pissed me off completely .It is wrong on so many levels .I think both of these ladies are absolutely beautiful and are some of the best vocalists ever .The music industry is so wrong for encouraging this .This is similar to how Susan Boyle was treated right before she blew them all away with her vocal range at her audition .I myself could care less what any entertainer looks like. All that should matter is their talent. All people are beautiful in their own way and this is a hill I will gladly die on. It was rejected by tons of successful singers including Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand, Cher, and Diana Ross. Then, it was offered to Sylvester's former backup singers, 2 Tons of Fun. I love this. The women are great singers and it is women being upfront claiming their sexuality. The video I saw in the 80s was different though: the women were in an office pointing on a wall calendar and then one of the women lies on the ground moving confidently and sensually, letting us know that she is glamorous and sexy while being heavy! Wonderful feminist influence and self-assertiveness. Over all a happy upfront song.
