Their second full-length album, Finding God Before God Finds Me (FGBGFM), was released in 2019, having a deluxe edition released in 2020, with the addition of the songs "Limits" and "Never Know", which both charted on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs, and a cover of the 90's hit "Come Undone", from Duran Duran.
The idea to form Bad Omens came in 2013 when Noah Sebastian began secretly writing lyrics while also performing guitar duties for a Washington, D.C.-based act named Immoralist. In 2014, Noah Sebastian departed from his former band, with Bad Omens in sight. The following year in 2015, he contacted an old friend, Nicholas Ruffilo, to start the band. He then added another friend, Vincent Riquier, who introduced him to a friend from Sweden, Jolly Karlsson.
Karlsson had known Riquier through being touring mates from an old project from Riquier. With those five members, the group moved out of their homes in Sweden and Richmond. Karlsson had the idea to make the move when a friend of his began a small record label that was initially producing the band's songs. Nick Folio joined after submitting an online cover of a demo the band put out while seeking a drummer.
The first name adopted by the band was "CHLDRN", and "Bad Omens" was originally supposed to be the title of one of their early songs. But Ash Avildsen, founder of Sumerian Records, suggested they changed the name to Bad Omens and picked another name for the song, which became the hit "Glass Houses".
The band put out an untitled demo EP containing rough versions of their debut album tracks, which caught the eye of Sumerian Records. The EP was good enough for Sumerian to recommend taking most of the tracks and putting them on a full-length.
Bad Omens' rising fame got them a spot on Warped Tour in 2017, which gave them notice from pop punk fans and metal fans alike. The same year, Noah Sebastian worked with American deathcore act, Winds of Plague on their fifth studio album Blood of My Enemy. The band embarked on what is seemingly their largest tour yet, supporting Parkway Drive on their Reverence tour along with Stick to Your Guns in the spring of 2018. After the tour, the band took time off to finish writing their sophomore album.
The band embarked on their first full US headlining tour in 2020, with support from Oh, Sleeper, Thousand Below, and Bloodline, but on March 13, the remainder of the tour was indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, after filling in the spot of Every Time I Die on the Voyeurist Tour with headliner Underoath, Bad Omens toured with A Day to Remember, The Ghost Inside, and Beartooth. The band later announced on August 23 that they would be headlining a North American tour with Dayseeker, Make Them Suffer, and Thousand Below.
That same year they released their most known album, "The Death of Peace of Mind" which took them to charts and highlighted them in social media. The album, which Noah describes as the most experimental and faithful to who they want to be as a band, made great numbers and the songs "Just Pretend" and "The Death of Peace of Mind" became Gold Certified by RIAA in USA.
During 2023, the band toured the "Concrete Forever US Tour" supported by ERRA and I See Stars (which were making a comeback after +5 years away from the scene). Later the band announced dates for the "Concrete Forever 2024" in US and EU and were announced as guests for the Bring Me The Horizon's "Nx_Gn Wrld Tour", with Cassyette and Static Dress.
Although the band members remain low profile, the band keeps a solid fanbase, and according to the frontman, Noah Sebastian, they've been working on the sequel of "The Death of Peace of Mind". Also, according to sources, they've been working in a second album called "Concrete Forever", which will consist of remixes, acoustic renditions and collabs with other artists.
After the tour with BMTH ended and three days away from the beginning of the "Concrete Forever Europe" tour, Bad Omens released the single "V.A.N" featuring Poppy, who is going to be the support artist for the CF/EU tour.

Bad Omens Lyrics

And only in sadness do you feel happy instead
Be careful what you wish for because
you don't know the guilt I carried this far all on my own
It's nothing you want to feel
So let it go
Don't wait for the dust to settle
Don't wait for the world to let go of the both of us
Don't wait for the dust to settle
Don't wait till you've had enough
Don't wait for the world to let go or to give you up
The silence is one thing that I'll remember you said
Well it's better than nothing when nothing's all that you left
Be careful what you wish for because
you don't know the guilt I carried this far wasn't my own
It's nothing you want to feel
So let it go
Don't wait for the dust to settle
Don't wait till it's not enough
Don't wait for the world to let go of the both of us
Don't wait for the dust to settle
Don't wait till you've had enough
Don't wait for the world to let go or to give you up
If you need a place to hang your head a shoulder's better than a knot
You'd be a better memory alive rather than not
If you need a place to hang your head a shoulder's better than a knot
You'd be a better memory if no one else forgot
So let it go
Don't wait for the dust to settle
Don't wait till it's not enough
Don't wait for the world to let go of the both of us
Don't wait for the dust to settle
Don't wait till you've had enough
Don't wait for the world to let go or to give you up
If you need a place to hang your head a shoulder's better than a knot
You'd be a better memory alive rather than not
If you need a place to hang your head a shoulder's better than a knot
You'd be a better memory if no one else forgot
So don't you give up
The lyrics to Bad Omens’s song “Careful What You Wish For” are about reflecting on past mistakes and regret. The singer warns listeners to be cautious when wishing for something, as it may come at a cost. They describe how only in madness can one find beautiful death, and only in sadness can one feel happiness instead. The cautionary tone is reflected in the recurring phrase “don’t wait,” emphasizing the importance of taking action and not waiting for things to happen. The song also touches on the idea of forgiveness and moving on from guilt, as the singer discusses the weight of carrying guilt alone and the importance of letting it go. The song ends with a message of hope, urging listeners to seek help and not give up, and reminding them that they will always be remembered.
Overall, the lyrics to “Careful What You Wish For” showcase the band’s signature style of combining heavy music with thoughtful and introspective lyrics. The song is a powerful reminder to be mindful of our actions and thoughts, and to always strive for forgiveness and growth.
