California Sun
Bad Preachers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where the days are short and the nights are long
Where I'll walk
And they walk
I'll twist
And they twist
And I'll shimmy
And I'll fly
And they fly
Where they're out there having fun
In the warm California sun
Well, I'm going out west
Out on the coast
Where the California girls
Are really the most
And I'll walk
And they walk
I'll twist
And they twist
And I'll shimmy
And they shimmy
And I'll fly
And they fly
Where they're out there having fun
In the warm California sun
Well, the girls are frisky
In old 'Frisco
A pretty little chick
Wherever you go
And I'll walk
And they walk
I'll twist
And they twist
And I'll shimmy
And they shimmy
And I'll fly
And they fly
Where they're out there having fun
In the warm California sun
Where they're out there having fun
In the warm California sun
The song "California Sun" by Bad Preachers is a classic tribute to the fun-loving nature of California residents, particularly the women. The opening lines of the song, "Well I'm going out west where I belong, where the days are short and the nights are long," sets the scene for the singer's desire for adventure and excitement in sunny California. He's ready to let loose and join in on the party, and he wants to be part of the action that he imagines is happening every night on the West Coast.
The song continues with the singer's fascination with California girls, who he thinks are "really the most." He's eager to walk, twist, shimmy, and fly alongside them, and he believes that wherever he goes in California, he'll encounter a "pretty little chick" who's just as free-spirited as he is. The chorus repeats the idea that everyone is having fun out in the California sun, which serves as a metaphor for the easygoing lifestyle that the singer craves.
Overall, this song is a lighthearted celebration of youthful fun and liberation. It captures the carefree spirit of the 1960s and paints a vivid picture of what it might have been like to live in California during that time. The repetitive nature of the lyrics and the repetitive nature of the rhythmic structure of the song itself, reflects the easy-going nature of the subject matter.

@@cocopuffitupI mean a few things for you as someone who isn't religious.
A) Child brides are still a very real and common thing in the world. If this comes as a surprise to you , I apologize but I also suggest you educate yourself.
B ) You can't really judge the past by modern standards and you can't dismiss the whole of something off of one negative facet of it. It's disingenuous and weakens your point.
C) There are far better ways to critique scripture, it requires more effort and research, but it makes the critique so much more meaningful. You'll find most of the biggest intellectuals who critique and argue against religion, study the subject matter extensively.
Look at Bart erhman and Christopher Hitchens for example. Enjoy your day☺️

Its God's house but Jesus established a new covenant.
Whith, baptism, CONFESSION, and the Eucharist .
This are the laws for God's new covenant.
If we are dancing, and ignore what jesus ordained with His Apostles.
We live millions of people to die in their sins.
Which is exactly what is happening.
According to Virgim Mary.
A false gospel is going around the world.
People are being told if they accept Jesus as our LORD and saviour they are already saved.
This is an heresy.
Jesus established, sacraments, for us to live in communion with God.
By living what jesus ordained, we must believe Jesus is our God and saviour.

Every Church is a problem! Revelation 18:4
“COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE!”
The Believers are the Church~
“LIVING STONES STACKED ONE UPON ANOTHER & JESUS IS THE HEAD~CORNERSTONE.”
Jesus told Peter, "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18). Jesus’ Church is NOT in a building & most who attend a church….”ARE NOT PART OF HIS TRUE & HOLY CHURCH.”
You just witnessed 1 of hundreds of thousands examples. 🤦🏼♀️

It is better to enjoy a fun church where you will eventually learn something by heart. Than church that you go to just hear but never learn anything.
Like a child, they learn by playing and having fun and laughing together.
Or when Jesus taught they were together, he taught them, they laughed together, they enjoyed being around him.
Of if you still don't understand, you been to school.
Who did you learn from the most?
A. A fun teacher
B. A strict teacher
