Lay Me Down
Badfinger Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Need your loving
Need your loving
Need your loving
It's everything to me

Need your loving
Need your loving
Need your loving
It's everything to me

Take me high take me low
Show me anything that you know
But tonight little lover lay me down
Make me laugh make me cry tell me how and tell me why
But tonight lover little lay me down

Lay me down move me round
Let me hear your loving sound
In our mess we are blessed with our love
Take and give take and live all the love that we have found
And just send all our problems away

Play me fun play me sad
Tell me things that could make you glad
But tonight lover little Lay me down
Lay me down
Need you loving

Play to share play to care
You can play with me anywhere
But tonight lover little lay me down
But tonight lover little lover lay me down

Lay me down
Need your loving

Isn't it maddening how perfect pop masterpieces like this just fell through the cracks when so much utterly cheesy crap in the 70's got huge? RIP Pete Ham, you were the real deal.

Sean Michael Wilson

indeed, but now is even worse. there is 99% only crap made now that sells a lot. at least there was a moderately high amount of good stuff got big in the 70s.

Rich Alderson

@Sean Michael Wilson That's what makes it fun to go back and unearth all the good stuff like this that doesn't get played to death on classic rock radio.

DD2093

This album was not actually released until 2000 (recorded in the mid-70's) due to Warner Bros suing the band and their crooked manager at the time. If it had come out, I really think this would have been a hit - it's a great song.

Rich Alderson

@DD2093 I did know that, I guess I was just pointing out how much great music was recorded and crafted but for whatever reason wasn't either released or promoted properly by the record company or just had back luck or timing. I think if any band in rock history was a perfect example of that it was Badfinger.

Besides the glory of Pete's perfect singing, guitar & keyboard mastery, Tom's bass and their heavenly backing, listen to Mike's drumming as you soak this in. They were playing for their lives in December '74!

Daniel Maggio Michels

they played bad then cause they died

Fernando França

Dont forget Bob Jackson!

Thomas Craymer

@Daniel Maggio Michels That is a pretty mean thing to say, you are almost as bad as Stan Polley (the soulless bastard who was Badfinger's manager)

ed bowen

This should have been a huge hit. Love this version of Badfinger - addition of Bob Jackson was great.
