Hooked On A Feelin'
Baha Men Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can't stop this feeling
Deep inside of me
Girl, you just don't realize
What you do to me

Your lips are sweet as candy
The taste stays on my mind
You just keep me thirsty
For another cup of wine

When you hold me
In your arms so tight
You let me know
Everything's all right

I, I'm hooked on a feeling
I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me

I've got it bad for you, darling
But I don't need a cure
I'll just stay addicted
And hope I can endure

All the good love
When we're all alone
Keep it up boy
Yeah, you turn me on

I, I'm hooked on a feeling
I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me

When you hold me
In your arms so tight
You let me know
Everything's all right

I, I'm hooked on a feeling
I'm high on believing
That you're in love with me

I said I'm hooked on a feeling

Overall Meaning

The Baha Men's "Hooked on a Feeling" is a song about a man who has fallen deeply in love with a girl and is unable to control the feelings of love she elicited in him. He recognizes that she may not understand the depth of his emotions, but nonetheless, he finds himself desperately addicted to the feeling she provides him. The song is a testament to the power of love and its ability to capture the hearts and minds of two individuals.

The lyrics speak of the woman's lips, which are as sweet as candy, and her ability to make the singer addicted and thirsty for more. He recognizes that he is "hooked on a feeling" and "high on believing" that she is in love with him as well. He has become completely infatuated with her and finds himself in a state of bliss whenever she is around. This is evident when he sings, "When you hold me in your arms so tight, you let me know everything's all right." The love he feels for her is all-consuming, and he has no desire, nor does he see the need for a cure.

The Baha Men's "Hooked on a Feeling" is a song that has the perfect blend of pop, rock, and soul. It was originally recorded in 1968 by B.J. Thomas, who had a hit with the song. In 1995, the Swedish band Blue Suede recorded the song with an updated sound, and it became a big hit in Canada and Europe. It was from this version that the Baha Men took inspiration and created their own rendition of the song in 1998.

MattMan Reviews

My dad has this song on a CD made for him by a friend, and we never knew who sung it as there was no information on wikipedia. At last, after 11 years thanks to Shazam I know it is by the Baha Men. This is my favorite version of the song and I think it is far superior to the Blue Swede version, and gives the B.J. Thomas version a run for its money. I have added the information to the wikipedia page for this song so it can get the recognition it deserves.
