A Dream
Bailes/Lindberg/North/Wilson/Rooley Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I can't ignore it anymore
I'm changing the way it was before
Switching to another side
I'm switching on the light
My mood swings from sun into the rain
And then its all coming back again
There is no other way to go
It is the time to sow
Going round and round
Moving to the sound
Coming together like a seam
Going round and round
Moving to the sound
I am exchanging a dream for a dream
So it doesn't feel the same
Well I can't be the one to blame
There is no logic in the air
It's just bittersweet and fair
Going round and round
Moving to the sound
Coming together like a seam
Going round and round
Moving to the sound
I am exchanging a dream for a dream
Dream your dream
Let off steam
Swim the stream
Dream your dream
Going round and round
Moving to the sound
Coming together like a seam
Going round and round
Moving to the sound
I am exchanging a dream for a dream

I am exchanging a dream for a dream
I am exchanging a dream for a dream

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bailes/Lindberg/North/Wilson/Rooley's song "A Dream" speak to the idea of embracing change and seeking new experiences. The singer of the song acknowledges that they can no longer ignore the need for change and are actively working to shift their perspective. They see themselves as "switching to another side" and "switching on the light," suggesting that they are seeking out new ways of thinking and living. However, the transition is not easy, as their mood shifts from "sun into the rain," perhaps indicating a sense of discomfort or uncertainty. Despite this, they recognize that there is no other choice but to move forward, to "go round and round" and "move to the sound." The repetition of this phrase represents the cyclical nature of life, with its ups and downs, and the need to keep moving forward.

The lines "I am exchanging a dream for a dream" represent a willingness to let go of the past and embrace something new. The singer acknowledges that the transition may not be easy and that it may "not feel the same," but they refuse to let this hold them back. There is "no logic in the air," perhaps suggesting that the changes they are making are not entirely rational or logical but are driven more by emotion and intuition. The closing lines, "Dream your dream, let off steam, swim the stream," emphasize the importance of finding personal fulfillment and living life on one's own terms, rather than being trapped by others' expectations.

Ghost Writter

these beautiful words.......

Last night I dreamed
That you were here with me
And we were in each others arms
It was oh so heavenly
You held me close to you
And whispered in my ear
"Let's build a life together
Share love beyond compare"

As we danced to the melody
We had so much to share (then the music stopped)
In a flash I was all alone (it was just a dream)
Haunting me once again

A dream, of simple fantasy
That I, wished was reality
That you'd, come knocking at my door
And we'd, relive this dream once more

The day you left
You said you would return+
Just when you wouldn't promise
Said you needed time alone
You said you loved me and
Someday our love could be
I couldn't understand it
I thought we were both happy

As we danced to the melody
We had so much to share (then the music stopped)
In a flash I was all alone (it was just a dream)
Haunting me once again

A dream, of simple fantasy
That I, wished was reality
That you'd, come knocking at my door
And we'd, relive this dream once more

A dream, of simple fantasy
That I, wished was reality
That you'd, come knocking at my door
And we'd, relive this dream once more

A dream

Hold me
Love me
With all your heart

Oh come back
Please make my dream come true for me
I need so much for you to see
I need you to love me once again

A dream, of simple fantasy
That I, wished was reality
That you'd, come knocking at my door
And we'd, relive this dream once more
A dream of simple fantasy, that I wished was reality

Not enough people give Debarge the credit they deserve

El Debarge is one of my favorite keyboard players

Well that's not true. Most of switch songs that came out people thought that it was The Debarge..

I disagree. El De Barge is known still in "The Industry" as one of the greatest Writer, Musician , Performers to have existed, right up there with the biggest he struts. They had 6 top 100 songs on Billboard. From 86' to 91' they were the hottest thing out there. He had chart topping hits for 27 years. How many can say that?🤔 A selected few , of which he was and still is relevant , to us that is. He's STILL writing and producing today, collaborating with some younger singers in their own songs. " Lay With You" , " You Wear it Well" and "Love Always" , were some of the last on the chart as #1's . How's that for not enough credit? Plus , he had 5 Grammy nominations. 😛🤗He and his family recorded with Motown, Innerscope, Geffen and Warrner Bros . Please be 🤫 and enjoy the music. 🤫🤥😫😊😉
