tekila
Bajaga Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
momku koji je imao stila
kada je ziveo negde dole
severno-juzno od Brazila.
Ni Markes ni Kastaneda,
nisu znali Huanita,
ali su culi da mu je deda
video licno Meskalita.
prelepu rozu iz Makonda.
Ona je bila zarobljenik,
odvratnog generala La.
Huan je drmnuo tekilu,
Huan je skupio gerilu,
Huan je pucao u stilu
Ra-TA-RA-TA-RA.
Tekila-gerila
Tekli su krv, voda i zuc,
Huan sklon revoltu i buntu,
Zestok je napravio puc,
srusio celu vojnu huntu.
Pa je ozenio Mariju-Anu,
prelepu rozu iz Makonda,
svasta su imali u planu,
ja ne znam sta je bilo onda.
Znam da se kao sedi starac,
pored svoje Marije-Ane,
setio kako je kao klinac,
imao strasno burne dane.
Kako je drmnuo tekilu,
kako je skupio gerilu,
kako je buncao u stilu,
RA-TA-RA-TA-RA.
Tekila-gerila
The lyrics to Bajaga's song Tekila tell the story of a man named Juan, who was known for his style and lived somewhere south of Brazil. Neither Gabriel Garcia Marquez nor Carlos Castaneda had heard of Juan, but they had heard that his grandfather had personally met Meskalita. Juan loved a woman named Maria Ana, who was a prisoner of the horrible general La. One day, Juan drank tequila, gathered the guerrilla, and shot in style, making the sound "RA-TA-RA-TA-RA." The tequila guerrillas spilled blood, water, and bile, as Juan revolted against the military junta and brought it down. He married Maria Ana, and they had many plans together, but the song does not reveal what happened to them. The song ends with an old Juan sitting next to Maria Ana, remembering his wild and liberated youth and how he used to drink tequila, gather the guerrilla, and talk in style, "RA-TA-RA-TA-RA."
The story of Juan in Tekila is fictional, but it alludes to real historical and cultural events and figures. Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Carlos Castaneda were both famous Latin American writers who had written about topics related to rebellion, magic, and spirituality. Meskalita is a reference to mescal, a popular alcoholic beverage made in Mexico from the agave plant. Mescal has a cultural and spiritual significance in Mexican and Native American cultures and is often associated with the visionary and transformative experiences. The general La may represent a military dictator or oppressor, which many Latin American countries have suffered throughout their histories. The tequila guerrilla is a metaphor for the resistance and rebellion against the establishment and the fight for political and social freedom.
