Their sound is best described as a fusion between argentine tango and house/techno. Gotan Project has a very similar style, nonetheless, in Bajofondo, the electronic part of the music plays a much more important part.

Pioneers in South America of this kind of music, Bajofondo has spawned a series of similar bands which explore the posibilities of this fusion. These bands include: Supervielle (Uruguayan DJ which participated in Bajofondo), Debayres, Tanghetto, among others.
