The first incarnation known as BAND-MAID® was formed in july 2013 by Singer/guitarist Miku Kobato, a former employee of a Japanese maid café. Via an internet search Kobato found lead guitarist Kanami Tōno, who had performed as a singer-songwriter before. She suggested Akane Hirose for as the drummer for the new band. In return, Hirose suggested bassplayer Misa, which she knew from music school.
Band-Maid's first performance was on24 July 2013 with Kobato on vocals. Shortly after the band decided to add a real singer to their group. After some auditions they decided Saiki Atsumi to be their lead singer.

What am l? Do you know?
Oh you're not lonely one.
l say you are the only one. yeah
one day at a time
It will turn out all right.
Oh you're not lonely one.
l say you are the only one. yeah
show me
Don't stop you
It will turn out all right.
何処でもない 此処にいるよ be with you
It will turn out all right.
Oh you're not lonely one.
l say you are the only one.
only one.
The Japanese rock band Band-Maid's song One and Only is an empowering message of hope and encouragement for those feeling lost and alone. The lyrics explore the struggles of feeling regret, the pain of a loss, and the internal battle to find oneself. The chorus repeats that despite these hardships, everything will be alright, and that we should hold on to our dreams, our love, and our voice.
The first verse suggests that the singer is speaking to themselves, as they realize that they've reached their limit and feel overwhelmed by regret. However, there is a desire to try again and be able to cry when needed without being confined by their emotions. They question their identity and wonder if anyone knows who they really are. In the second verse, they describe a sudden moment of change - the world has become different and fading memories of a painful goodbye leave them feeling crushed. But despite the struggles, they learn to embrace their vulnerabilities and take things one day at a time.
The bridge reinforces the idea of not giving up and continuing to hold on to our dreams, with the repetition of "Don't stop" and "hold on." The final verse encourages the listener to step forward and boldly create their own future, to be themselves without fear and to remember that they are not alone. The lyrics come to a close by repeating the uplifting message that "everything will be alright."
