The title track is one of those house specialty luminous and summery songs, with echoes of the infinite strength of FITNESS FOREVER, but with a tremendously danceable chorus. “Blankets” is delicious, with marvelous arrangements that remind us of SAMBASSADEUR, CLUB 8 and CAMERA OBSCURA, mixing hope and melancholy. “La merienda” is a song that Javi and Coral wrote for Agustín Fuentes’ (the director of the Contempopránea Festival) radio program, and it’s a hyperdanceable hit, full of energy and vitality and that we could compare to the early songs by LA CASA AZUL. “Souvenir de L’avenir” recovers that summery breath, but this time with a loungier grounding and a delicate adhesion to bossanova. Four songs like four different suns.
This is definitely a new gem that it is becoming a part of the BAND Á PART collection and that makes us even more excited than we were before for new songs from this duo, which promise big things. And we can now announce that these songs will arrive soon, six to be exact, in a 10” color vinyl format, again, with Elefant. Don’t miss their next shows in the Contempopránea and the Indietracks festivals, because there are already so many of us excitedly following this group. ~ from Elefant Records
Souvenir De L'avenir
Band à Part Lyrics

Alors rêve-moi
Mes souvenirs de l'avenir
Ne parlent que de toi
Entends-tu le dernier soupir
Des démons de l'absence
Que je voyais surgir
Ton ombre portait sur ma vie
Et sans bruit les met en fuite
Ils courent sous la pluie
De nos météorites
Souvenirs de l'avenir
Si à chacun de tes sourires
Quelque chose me déchire
The lyrics to Band à Part's song Souvenir De L’avenir describe the singer's intense connection to someone they have deeply missed. The opening lines, "Je ne sais plus les mots pour le dire / Alors rêve-moi" can be translated to "I no longer have the words to say it / so dream me." This suggests that the singer is struggling to express their feelings accurately and is resorting to dreaming about the person they miss. The following lines, "Mes souvenirs de l'avenir / Ne parlent que de toi" can be translated to "My memories of the future / Only speak of you," further emphasizing the intense connection the singer has to this person.
The next verse talks about the singer's experience of being haunted by the "demons of absence" in the nights when "the desert advances." This paints a picture of the singer feeling alone and desolate without the person they are dreaming about. However, the mention of "nos météorites" (our meteors) suggests that the singer and this person have had an explosive and powerful connection in the past, and that even without them physically present, their memory is still strong enough to fight off the demons.
The final verse repeats the first, emphasizing the power of memory to keep someone close even when they're not physically present. The lines "Si à chacun de tes sourires / Quelque chose me déchire" can be translated to "If with each of your smiles / Something tears me apart." This suggests that the singer may have gone through a lot of pain without this person, but their memories are still able to affect them deeply.
Overall, Souvenir De L’avenir is a song about the strength and power of memory, and how even when someone is no longer physically present, they can still be deeply felt through their impact on our lives.
