(1) Band Aid was a British and Irish charity supergroup, founded in 1984 by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia by releasing the record "Do They Know It's Christmas?. It was Christmas #1 that year, surpassing all expectations.
Artists featured in the recording included: George Michael, Boy George, Bono, Phil Collins, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, Paul Young, Bananarama, Paul Weller, Heaven 17, Ultravox, Sting, Kool & The Gang, Status Quo, David Bowie, Paul McCartney, Big Country.
(2) Band Aid was an Italian Band formed in 1980 in Lecce by Toni Robertini, Giacomo Toriano (Mino), Francesco Nemola (Frank), Felice De Donno, Roberto Gagliardi and Paolo Cesano. It was previously named La Mela d'Oro, a group which in 1976 had already elaborated Mediterranean Jazz with elements of popular music of Salento. The group was influenced by Canterbury scene, no wave, Frank Zappa and free jazz. Following the Italian Records trend towards dance music and Italo disco, they recorded the EP A Tour in Italy, produced by Oderso Rubini. They introduced vocals for the first time, using pre-recorded conversations of English lessons and a nonsense rap in French. Side B is a remix by the American DJ, Tony Carrasco. The record obtained reasonable success. The last period is marked by an attempt to reach a larger audience. In 1985, the band dissolved.

Do They Know It's Christmas%3F
Band Aid Lyrics
It's Christmastime
There's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmastime
But say a prayer, pray for the other ones
At Christmastime, it's hard but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring there
Are the clanging chimes of door
Well, tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmastime
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life, oh
Where nothing ever grows, no rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?
Here's to you, raise a glass for everyone
Spare a thought this yuletide for the deprived
If the table was turned would you survive
Here's to them underneath that burning sun
You ain't gotta feel guilt just selfless
Give a little help to the helpless
Do they know it's Christmastime at all?
Feed the world, feed the world
Feed the world, feed the world
Feed the world, let them know it's Christmastime
Feed the world, let them know it's Christmastime
Feed the world, let them know it's Christmastime
Feed the world, let them know it's Christmastime
Feed the world, feed the world, feed the world, feed the world
Feed the world, feed the world, feed the world, feed the world
There's no need to be afraid
At Christmastime, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy

But say a prayer, pray for the other ones

One of the most legendary Christmas tracks ever created, and what a legacy it has! Phil Collins carrying the drums, and an iconic George MIcheal, What a time! A Merry Christmas to all! Wishing you guys all the best, and a great start to the upcoming new year! Literally a Christmas track that'll never stop getting stuck in your head around this time of year, espically on Christmas day and it's been a blast ever since it was released! Reminds me of the great times, and how time flies, and how grateful I am for it. All the best. Feliz Natal, Happy Holidays! 🎄☃🎁👋

Indeed . What a time and what talent on one song. Never be repeated again in my lifetime

It's 2022 and the bells still give me the same goosebumps...
RIP David and George
PS - It only took me all these years to realise that Sting sings the line with "sting" in it... not sure if it was intentional or not, but cute nevertheless

@Speakmymind777 Truer words were rarely spoken! I feel so grateful to have been a teenager in the 80s. Happy holidays everyone!

We're getting old. Kids these days don't want to understand true music and compassion. Everything now is about likes, votes, and dancing like monkeys for 60 seconds.

It's just not the same now. Every singer involved is a legend.

After listening to this version a billion times in the last 36 years, I am constantly amazed by how David Bowie, like an Eagle swooping in for a kill, ALWAYS sends a massive chill down me the moment his voice over kicks in and crushes everything preceding it. What an absolute master class act that dude was.
