1> A 1960s rock band from Birmingham, England. Formed by Robert Plant in 1966 and formed again in 2010 (same band name, different musicians with Plant). In the 60s the last of several line-ups included Robert Plant and John Bonham who went on to join Led Zeppelin. Also notable, the band's roadie was Noddy Holder.
The earliest incarnation of the group was formed in 1966 by Plant. Conflicts with the band's management led to Plant leaving the group after a few months. He quickly tried to form his own Band of Joy, but it soon folded. A third incarnation of the band, including Plant's childhood friend John Bonham, lasted from 1967 to mid-1968. Their brand of soul and blues was popular with Birmingham mods. The final 60's lineup recorded a number of demo recordings in early 1968, but broke up in May 1968 when a recording contract failed to materialize. In 2010 Robert Plant and Band Of Joy launched a tour - the one musician in common being Robert Plant with a whole new cast of players now called the Band Of Joy.

2> A Swedish band founded of the friends Hannes Dahlrot, Matti Nilsson & Anton Ingvarsson in Karlshamn during christmas 2003 or more official spring 2004. The music is experimental and quite hard to describe with just a few words since every song differs from the others in style and character. Folk music of different sorts is a big source of inspiration but also surf-music, circus-sounds, balkanbeats and psychedelic jazz are styles that are more or less represented in Band of Joy’s repertoire. The songs are musical adventures that lead you all over the world. Band of Joy is mostly a live-band that suits just as good at festivals, rock-clubs and odd gatherings in the countryside. They have toured everywhere from the dense forests in northern Sweden to bright landscapes of southern Bosnia.
2003-2008 lineup
* Matti Nilsson — guitar, kazoo, crazy noises
* Ola Olsson — bass, crazy dancing
* Hannes Dahlrot — drums, percussion, crazy mind
2009-2013 lineup
* Matti Nilsson — guitar, sitar, kazoo
* Anton Ingvarsson — bass, opera
* Hannes Dahlrot — drums, percussion

Hey Joe
Band Of Joy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hey Joe, where you goin' with that gun in your hand?
Goin' out to shoot my lady
You know I caught her messin' 'round with another man
Goin' out to shoot my lady
You know I caught her messin' 'round with another man
Hey Joe, you know I heard you shot your woman down
Yes, I did, I shot her, you know I caught her messin' 'round
Yes, I did, I shot her, you know I caught her messin' 'round
Hey Joe, where you gonna run to now?
Hey Joe, where you gonna run to now?
I'm gonna run, gonna run, gonna run,
To the gallows pole
I'm gonna run, gonna run, gonna run,
The hangman can't put a rope around me anyhow...
This classic rock song by Band of Joy, "Hey Joe", tells the tragic story of a man named Joe who catches his woman cheating on him with another man. The song begins with the singer asking Joe where he is going with a gun in his hand. Joe's response is that he is going out to shoot his lady as he has caught her messing around with another man. His response indicates that he is very angry and does not know how to deal with betrayal other than through violence.
The singer then goes on to ask Joe where he is going to run to after he commits this terrible act. Joe responds that he is going to run to the gallows pole since he knows he will be caught and must face the consequences. The song ultimately explores themes surrounding betrayal, violence and the emotional and psychological toll of infidelity. It's a tragic tale of a man facing the ultimate consequences for his actions.
In conclusion, "Hey Joe" is a hard-hitting song that illustrates the complexity of being human. One moment of anger, jealousy and betrayal can lead to devastating consequences that cannot be undone. It is a warning against letting emotions and violence get the best of us and acting on them without thinking.

Cobb the Drummer
Young Robert Plant had a voice like no other, love hearing John Bonham play Mitch Mitchell’s licks too
Joe
You just know..... the very first time Jimmy heard this kid live that he had heard about before first hearing himself..... he knew with this kid''s voice and along with his drummer...... his ideas for the new Yardbirds would blow the world up like never before. Then he gets this guy who's a fantastic composer and arranger and a studio musician who could play any instrument in Jonesey in to the mix on that thick bass, and they all get into a room for the first time and play Train Kept a Rollin...... to be in that room, for the first time, wow. When people ask if I could go back in time to witness something where and when would I go? 08/12/1968. That room. The first time John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page, John Henry Bonham, and Robert Plant plug in and crank up and hit that first chord together for the very first time.
Paddy Forlenza
listen to the bootleg live at fillmore 1969, i believe that's the first track
Joe
@Paddy Forlenza Right but they had to get together and meet to rehearse. That very first time was obviously not in front of any audience. It was just in a room. The four of them, and only the four of them. On August 12, 1968. 8 years and 357 days to the day before I was born. That was the date in which Plan, Page, JHB, and JPJ got together for the very first time with their instruments, in one room, plugged in, turned up, and hit their very first chord together as a band.
As Jonesy once put it: "on that very first chord you could feel the room just explode and a whooosh came over me! We knew from the very first moment we had something!"
THAT'S the moment I would have loved to have been there!!!!

@Joe A little room on Gerrard St in London. With amps piled up all around...
Anthony Cavallo
He heard Plant first from a suggestion from Terry Reed. Plant told him about Bonham ,saying that the drummer Page had in mind for Zep ,was no good ,I've got to get my old drummer back ! Then they went to see Bonham and ,of course Page was sold !!! Jonsey had done studio work with Jimmy before and answered an add ,saying Jimmy was putting a band together . Jonesy's wife said ,call him ! The rest is history ! JPJ said when they figured out a tune to play ,train kept rolling ,the room just exploded ! It was the greatest thing EVER !
Stravo Lukos
@Joe Sorry, but Jimmi Hendrix was made for this song. Plant was in the wrong room. He had/has his own domain over which he is king.

Imagine if Robert Plant was the Singer of the Jimi Hendrix experience and later of Led Zeppelin! Then he would be considered to be the best Singer of all time 😌 I like Plant more than mercury
