Monster
Band of Horses Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
They can't find you for the moment
Then for all past efforts
They're buried deep beneath
Your heart and somewhere in your stomach
And hatred for all others
When awful people they surround you
Well, eh, they just like monsters
They come to feed on me
Giant little animals to feed
Though
To say "we got much hope"
"If I am lost, it's only for a little while"
Oh
A treat for all these problems
They can't find us for the moment
Then for all past effort
They're buried deep beneath
Our hearts and somewhere in our stomachs
And hatred for all others
And awful people, they surround you
Eh, they just like monsters
They come to feed on us
Giant little animals for us
Though
To say "we got much hope"
"If I am lost it's only for a little while"
And though
To say "we got much hope"
"If I am lost it's only for a little while"
"If I am lost it's only for a little while"
"If I am lost it's only for a little while"
The lyrics to "Monster" by Band of Horses seem to be about dealing with and overcoming personal struggles and negative emotions. The singer suggests that they have a way to temporarily escape their problems and the people who bring them down. They describe the negative emotions as being buried deep within their heart and stomach, indicating that these feelings are very personal and ingrained within them. The use of the word "treat" suggests that this escape may not be a permanent solution, but rather a short-term relief. The singer also implies that they have a certain amount of hatred towards others who negatively impact them, calling them "monsters" who feed off of their pain.
Despite the negativity present in the song, there is also a sense of hope. The singer suggests that they are only lost for a little while, indicating that they are confident they will find their way out of their difficult situation. Additionally, the repetition of the phrase "we got much hope" further emphasizes this sense of hope and optimism.
Overall, the lyrics to "Monster" suggest a struggle with personal demons and negative emotions, but also a belief in the ability to overcome these challenges and find hope.
