https://youtu.be/LkvYqB7x6v4 it’s the same rhythm i believe, but since this is a remake of a traditional greek song from the Cyclades, i wouldn’t say it’s “Based On” anything else, other than that 😅. Nevertheless it was interesting to detect this familiar (to me) rhythm, in a totally different genre (and an impressive far leap of thought) Thanx ;)

@@pasemes niceee. when danced in couples it’s like some sort of salsa, but with smaller steps i feel and with greater proximity between the partners. The basic step cycle is that of the salsa... and now that I think of it... so is the basic step cycle of the greek dance too. You cross three to the front and three to the back. Your group dance was a bit more confusing to me, cause I couldn’t really feel it’s coherence, but it was interesting.

Regarding this greek rhythm and music, it can also be danced in couples.

On the other hand, in the group dance there are some small variations too, from place to place, but since it’s an easy dance, it often serves for the lead dancer of the circle to demonstrate his/her tricks, and then the lead dancers change within each song.

So goes with many “easy” dances. After all, from a point on in fests, there’s not enough room for all on the dancefloor 😂

+Michael Butchin +Johann Barker - its a relative of the cimbalom...well...whats in the video is, as stated above, an Appalachian Hammered Dulcimer. A Greek Santouri has ALOT more strings, is tuned chromatically and can reach up to 4 octaves with Contra bass/bass/middle/treble - wound phosphor bronze strings- brass- steel, much like a piano. The cimbalom is another beast which can be a little larger, has more strings, played with a slightly different method (I've had/played all 3 of this type of dulcimer..I've got a couple of videos on my page of the santouri

i get your point...i particularly love when a talented group of musicians take on a simple groove or idea...there's this thrill, not knowing if they'll take the song one way or another, both dynamically and technically.
