You broke your promise left me alone with the lie
I'll never hurt you
You said that so many times so many times
Maybe the bottle's the answer
It hasn't helped much this time
You just can't hide a love that has died
But i buried it deep in my mind
You broke your promise left me alone with the lie
But i'll never hurt you
But you've said that so many times so many times
There's nothing left but your memory
That's all that matters sometimes
Well i can't go on i'm not that strong
Maybe you're losing your mind
I'll always love you i will till the day that i die
You broke your promise left me alone with the lie
But i'll never hurt you
You said that so many times so many times
I'm hearing voices inside me
Your probably crazy by now
Leave me alone i can't go on
You'll learn to makenit somehow
I'll always love you i will till the day that i die
You broke your promise left me alone with the lie
But i'll never hurt you
You said that so many times so many times
And i'm hearing voices inside me
The lyrics of Barbara Ray's song "Voices" expresses the pain of a person who has been betrayed by a loved one. The singer declares her unwavering love for the person, but at the same time, acknowledges the damage they have inflicted on them. The song begins with a declaration of love, but then quickly shifts to the reality of the situation. The person has broken their promise and left the singer alone with a lie. The singer acknowledges that the love they once shared has died, but they have buried it deep in their mind. The pain caused by the betrayal is too much for the singer to bear, and they contemplate turning to the bottle for help.
In the chorus, the singer reiterates their undying love for the person but acknowledges that there is nothing left but their memory. The pain and hurt caused by the betrayal have left the singer feeling weak and unable to carry on. They express their fear that the person they once loved so deeply may be losing their mind. The singer ends the song with a plea to be left alone, stating that the person would learn to cope somehow.
