Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."

Barbra Streisand Lyrics

The walls between us stand so tall
They don't see there's just one sun
Shining on us all
I say
We each choose roads to call our own
But none of us is travelling through
And this circle
Just goes on and on
It began before us
It will be here when we've gone
And this circle
Just goes on and on and on
Connecting our humanity
Joining me to you and you to me
Seasons
Keep spinning on the wheel of time
We stand we fall
We struggle up
The mountains we must climb
Different dreams
May color what we see ahead
But our lives are strong together
On a common thread
And this circle (circle)
Just goes on and on (on and on)
It began before us
It will be here when we've gone
And this circle
Just goes on and on and on
Connecting our humanity
Joining me to you and you to me
Around and round and round and round we go
Around and round and round we go
Love and learn and change and grow
Round and round and round we go
And this circle
Touches everyone
As it crosses every boundary
Underneath the sun
And this circle
Just goes on and on
It began before us
It will be here when we're gone
Yes this circle
Just goes on and on and on
Someday we will come to see
I'm joined to you and you to me
The song "Circle" by Barbra Streisand is a beautiful anthem that speaks of the universality of human connection. In the first stanza, she acknowledges that although there are walls between us, we are all under the same sun, and not one of us is traveling through this world alone. The circle metaphor refers to the cyclical nature of life, how seasons keep spinning, and how we stand and fall and struggle together.
In the second verse, Streisand acknowledges that while we all have different dreams and see different things ahead, at the end of the day, our lives are woven together on a common thread. The chorus repeats the central message of the song, that this circle goes on and on, connecting us all, crossing every boundary underneath the sun. The bridge, with its repetition of "around and round we go," drives home the idea that life is cyclical, and we are all in this circle together.
Ultimately, the song speaks to the universality of human experiences and our shared humanity. We all love, learn, change, and grow, and through it all, we are all connected in this circle of life.
