Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."
Don't Throw It All Away
Barbra Streisand Lyrics

But lately you don't talk to me
And darlin' I can't see me in your eyes
I hold you near but you're so far away
And it's losing you, I can't believe
To watch you leave and let this feeling die
And tomorrow if I'm here without your love, you know, I can't survive
Only my love can raise you high above it all
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
We can take the darkness and make if full of light
But let your love flow back to me
How can you leave and let this feeling die
This happy room would be a lonely place when you are gone
And I won't even have your shoulders for the crying on
No other women's love, could be as true, I'm begging you
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
We changed the world, we made it ours to hold
But dreams are made for those who really try
This losing you is real but I still feel you here inside
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, away
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, away
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love
Don't throw it all away, our love, our love
Don't throw it all away
In "Don't Throw It All Away" by Barbra Streisand, the lyrics discuss a relationship that is facing a looming end. The singer is addressing their partner, noting that they haven't been communicating much lately and they can no longer see the love they once shared in their partner's eyes. The singer desperately wants to hold on to the relationship and begs their partner not to throw it all away.
The mood is heavy and heartfelt as the singer emphasizes how important the relationship is to them, stating that their partner is the only thing that keeps them alive. The chorus emphasizes this point, with the repeated plea to not throw their love away. The singer acknowledges that a life without their partner's love would be unbearable, and that they are willing to work through any darkness to keep the love alive.
Overall, the lyrics are a plea to a partner to stay in a relationship that is facing difficulties, and the song's melancholic melody complements the lyrics perfectly. It's a powerful and emotional song that resonates with anyone who has struggled to hold on to a fading love.
