Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."

Barbra Streisand Lyrics

People who need people,
Are the luckiest people in the world
We're children, needing other children
And yet letting a grown-up pride
Hide all the need inside
Acting more like children than children
Lovers are very special people
With one person one very special person
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you were half now you're whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world
With one person one very special person
A feeling deep in your soul
Says you were half now you're whole
No more hunger and thirst
But first be a person who needs people
People who need people
Are the luckiest people in the world
Barbra Streisand’s “Entr’acte” is one of the most popular songs that highlight the importance of connections and relationships that we have with each other. The lyrics reveal the deep truth about people and their interdependence with each other. According to the song, people need people, and those who need them are the luckiest ones in the world. The song continues to explain that as children, we all have a need for each other, but as we grow older, we tend to see ourselves as grown-ups and hide our vulnerabilities and needs. This is a human response when we refuse to acknowledge that we need others. We tend to act more like children, concealing our insecurities by pretending to be strong.
The lyrics also highlight the importance of love in people's lives. Lovers are truly special people, and they are perhaps the luckiest people in the world. The song argues that when we find that special someone, we find a feeling so profound, deep in our souls, and that feeling defines us. It reminds us that we are incomplete without that special person in our lives, and when we have them, our thirst and hunger for companionship are all but gone. However, the chorus reiterates the importance of people. Barbra reminds us that we need to be people who need people first, and only then can we find true happiness and meaning in our lives.
