Barbra Streisand has recorded more than 60 albums, almost all with Columbia Records. Her early works in the 1960s (her debut The Barbra Streisand Album which won two Grammy Awards in 1963, followed by The Second Barbra Streisand Album, The Third Album, My Name Is Barbra, etc.) are considered classic renditions of theater and nightclub standards, including her version of Happy Days Are Here Again. Beginning with My Name Is Barbra, her albums were often medley-filled keepsakes of her television specials.
Starting in 1969, Streisand tackled contemporary songwriters; like many talented singers of the day, she found herself a fish out of water in attempts to tackle rock, but her vocal talents prevailed and she gained newfound success with the pop and ballad-oriented Richard Perry-produced album Stoney End in 1971. The title track, written by Laura Nyro, was a big hit for Streisand.
Streisand's 1980 album, Guilty featured the songwriting, production and vocal talents of Barry Gibb and was the best-selling album of her recording career. During the 1970s, she was also highly prominent in the pop charts, with number-one records like The Way We Were, Evergreen, No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) (her duet with Donna Summer), and Woman In Love; some of these came from soundtracks of her films. She recently took part in supporting Haiti in singing "We are the World 25th anniversary.
When the 1970s ended, Streisand was named the most successful female singer in the U.S. - only Elvis Presley and The Beatles having sold more albums. [1]
[1] In 1982, New York Times music critic Stephen Holden wrote that Streisand was "the most influential mainstream American pop singer since Frank Sinatra."

North of England way
Now she's in the big time...in the USA
And if she could hear him, this is what he'd say
Honey pie, you are making me crazy
I'm in love but I'm lazy
So won't ya please come home
Oh honey pie, my position is tragic
You became a legend on the silver screen
And now the thought of meeting you makes me weak in the knees
Tee tee tee
Oh honey pie you are driving me frantic
Sail across the Atlantic to be where you belong
Honey pie come back to me
Oh wa wa wa...... wa wa wa wa wa wa wa... wa wa wa
Wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa
I like it like this (laughing)
Woo
I like this...
What kinda music (laughing)
What kinda music, play it to me... play it to me
Will the wind that blew her boat across the sea
Kindly send her sailing back to me? tee hee hee
Oh honey pie you are making me crazy
I'm in love but I'm lazy
So won't ya please come home
Come..come back to me honey pie
Do do do do da da da dum
Now don't get fresh fellas
De da de do da dumb
Honey pie come back...
Soon...
The lyrics of Barbra Streisand's Honey Pie tell the story of a man who is desperately in love with a "working girl" from the north of England, who has now made it big in the USA. The man pines for her and wants her to come back home to him. The phrase "honey pie" is used repeatedly throughout the song as a term of endearment for the woman that he loves. The man describes how her fame as a Hollywood star has made her a legend, and he is weak in the knees at the thought of meeting her. Despite his love for her, the man admits that he is lazy, and begs her to come back to him.
The song's lyrics are a bittersweet love letter, with the man expressing both his love and his desperation for the woman he loves. The lyrics are accompanied by a jaunty, upbeat melody that adds to the feeling of longing and nostalgia. The use of the phrase "honey pie" throughout the song gives it a sense of intimacy and familiarity, as if it is a song sung between two people who know each other intimately.
